Student answer (Band 7.0)

Dear Divya,

I would like to inform you that I found the matching job that you were looking for. Although this is a small local company, they hire people from around the world.

This job is originally published on Indeed on 12th September 2026. The company name is Yes E-bikes. You can find full job description in Indeed by searching job title, Firmware Developer. In this position, you will lead the development of firmware software to operate their electric bikes.

This is a startup company but their vision is inspiriting. Also, they recently secured a large funding from famous investors. As you have experience to develop firmwares in automobile industry, this job is completely aligned with your background.

You can directly apply on Indeed platform but I suggest you to contact their hiring team on Linkedin. If you unable to find hiring manger, you can contact Manish Patel on Linkedin. He is a head of human resources.

I hope you secure this job and move here in my city.

Thanks,

Sahil

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5

You have successfully addressed all three bullet points of the task. You clearly described the job (Firmware Developer at Yes E-bikes), explained why it is suitable based on your friend's background in the automobile industry, and provided actionable advice on how to apply. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend. To reach a higher band, you could expand slightly on the 'what sort of work it involves' section to provide more vivid detail about the daily tasks, which would further demonstrate your ability to develop ideas fully.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The letter is logically organized with clear paragraph breaks for each point. The progression of ideas is easy to follow. You use some cohesive devices like 'Although', 'Also', and 'If', which help connect your sentences. To improve, try to vary your linking words further and ensure that referencing is always precise. For example, in the second paragraph, 'in Indeed' should be 'on Indeed'. Overall, the structure is clear and serves the purpose of the letter well.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message clearly. Phrases like 'secured a large funding' and 'completely aligned with your background' are effective. However, there are some minor inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'inspiriting' (should be 'inspiring') and 'experience to develop' (should be 'experience in developing'). Improving these small errors and incorporating more sophisticated collocations would help you move into the higher band range.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are several grammatical slips, such as 'I found the matching job' (should be 'a matching job'), 'If you unable to find' (missing 'are'), and 'move here in my city' (should be 'to my city'). These errors do not impede communication, but they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and preposition usage will significantly improve your accuracy.
