Student answer (Band 7.0)
Dear Khushi,
Hope this letter finds you in a radiant health and the best of spirits. I am writing this as a reply of your letter which was sent last week related to your job search. I would love to help you out from this problem as I came across a job posting which is quite something that fits your personality.
So basically it is a role of a Customer Service Representative at one of the well-known retail companies, Walmart. As far as I know this role contains duties like answering calls, resolving customer issues and providing product information.
The main reason this job is perfect for you is that you have an experience in this area and you know exactly how to present yourself to the customers. In addition, because it is a full-time position, the company will provide you with great insurance benefits.
To apply for this job, you just have to go to a www.walmart.ca/job-posting-cutomer-service-reprenstative and just upload your resume and fill out your personal details. I hope this helps!
Yours lovingly,
Megha Panchal

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You clearly described the job role, explained why it is a good fit for your friend, and provided instructions on how to apply. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend, maintaining a friendly and helpful persona throughout. The ideas are relevant and well-developed, ensuring the reader understands the context and the specific action required. To reach a higher band, ensure that the explanation of the job duties is slightly more detailed to fully flesh out the 'what sort of work it involves' requirement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized with a clear progression of ideas. Each paragraph focuses on a specific aspect of the task, which helps the reader follow your train of thought easily. You use basic cohesive devices like 'In addition' and 'So basically' to link your sentences. While the structure is sound, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical. To improve, try using a wider variety of linking words and transition phrases to make the flow between sentences feel more natural and sophisticated.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for this task, such as 'radiant health', 'job posting', and 'full-time position'. However, there are some minor inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'reply of your letter' (should be 'reply to') and 'help you out from this problem' (which sounds slightly unnatural in this context). There are also a few spelling errors, such as 'cutomer' and 'reprenstative' in the URL. Improving your precision in word choice and proofreading for spelling will help you achieve a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures effectively. Most of your sentences are clear and easy to understand, and your control of grammar is generally good. There are a few minor errors, such as 'in a radiant health' (the article 'a' is unnecessary here) and 'you have an experience' (experience is uncountable here). These errors do not impede communication. To move to a higher band, try to incorporate more varied complex sentence structures and ensure consistent accuracy with articles and uncountable nouns.
