Student answer (Band 7.5)
Dear Peter,
I hope this message finds you well. I've received your letter, seeking my assistance in finding suitable job in India.
Although there are plenty of job opportunities available in multi-national companies such as Reliance Group or Tata, I would suggest you to join Ashoka Groups. As it's a local company, it will provide various growth opportunities by allowing you to closely work with highly skilled professionals. You will join the company as a Team Member, which gives you basic responsibilities such as sorting data, maintaining records, and managing customer's complaints.
I genuinely believe that it will be a great opportunity for you to learn various attributes, which will eventually fosters you personality development. Additionally, working in small firm allows to get a deeper understanding of operation required to run a successful business.
While you can apply for the job vacancy on the website, I strongly recommend you to visit in person. Not only it will make you stand out, but also gives you chance to visit and to gain more knowledge about the company.
Please don't hesitate if you need any further assistance.
Best regards,
Tim Smith

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 8.0
You have successfully addressed all three bullet points of the task. You clearly described the job at Ashoka Groups, explained why it is suitable for your friend, and provided a clear recommendation on how to apply. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend, maintaining a helpful and encouraging persona throughout. The ideas are relevant and well-developed, ensuring the reader understands both the nature of the role and the reasoning behind your suggestion. The response is fully focused on the prompt and meets all requirements effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 8.0
The letter is logically organized with a clear progression of ideas. Each paragraph focuses on a specific aspect of the prompt, which helps the reader follow your train of thought easily. You use a range of cohesive devices such as 'Although', 'Additionally', and 'Not only... but also' to link your sentences and ideas. The paragraphing is appropriate for a formal/semi-formal letter. The flow is smooth, and the relationship between the job description and the application advice is well-managed, making the text easy to read and understand.
Lexical Resource — Band 7.0
You demonstrate a good range of vocabulary, such as 'multi-national companies', 'highly skilled professionals', and 'attributes'. While the vocabulary is generally accurate and appropriate for the context, there are a few minor slips, such as 'fosters you personality development' (should be 'fosters your personality development') and 'in small firm' (should be 'in a small firm'). Despite these minor errors, the lexical range is sufficient to convey your message with precision and style, and you successfully use some less common collocations that enhance the quality of the writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures effectively. There are some grammatical inaccuracies, such as 'I would suggest you to join' (should be 'I would suggest that you join' or 'I suggest you join') and 'gives you chance' (should be 'gives you a chance'). Additionally, there is a minor error in 'Not only it will make you stand out' (should be 'Not only will it make you stand out'). However, these errors are non-systematic and do not impede communication. The majority of your sentences are clear and well-constructed.
