Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The letter covers all three bullet points required by the prompt. You clearly describe the bookkeeping role, explain why it suits your friend by referencing their degree and software skills, and provide instructions on how to apply. The tone is appropriate for a friend, though the closing 'Yours Faithfully' is technically incorrect for a letter to a friend (which should be 'Best wishes' or 'Yours sincerely'). The ideas are relevant and well-developed, ensuring the reader understands the purpose of the communication. To improve, ensure the sign-off matches the level of formality established in the greeting.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized into distinct paragraphs, each addressing a specific requirement of the task. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'apart from this' and 'also', to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally interrupted by awkward phrasing and punctuation errors, such as the semicolon usage in the first paragraph. The transition between sentences could be smoother to improve the overall readability. While the structure is clear and the progression of ideas is logical, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical rather than natural.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using industry-specific terms like 'bookkeeping', 'account receivables', and 'financial statements'. There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'filed job' instead of 'the job you were looking for' and 'assist a senior for audit' instead of 'assist a senior auditor'. While these errors do not impede communication, they highlight a need for more precise collocation. Expanding your range of natural expressions would help elevate your score, as some phrasing feels slightly repetitive or unnatural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'Job requirements are needs to have education' (incorrect verb usage), 'appear on company's site' (missing relative pronoun), and 'The best wishes' (incorrect article usage). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas and semicolons. While the meaning remains clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and article usage will significantly improve your accuracy.
