Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The letter addresses all three bullet points: describing the job, explaining why it is suitable, and detailing the application process. However, the response is slightly under the 150-word minimum, which impacts the overall development of ideas. While the purpose is clear, the explanation of the job and the application process could be more detailed to fully satisfy the requirements. The tone is informal and appropriate for a friend, but the lack of sufficient length prevents a higher score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The letter is organized into short paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the message. However, the use of cohesive devices is very limited and sometimes mechanical. For example, the transition between the job description and the application process is abrupt. There is a lack of linking words to connect ideas smoothly, and the punctuation is inconsistent, which affects the flow of the text. Improving the use of transition signals would significantly enhance the coherence of the letter.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite basic and contains several errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'infect' instead of 'in fact', 'forging' instead of 'foreign', and 'latter' instead of 'letter'. These errors occasionally impede the reader's understanding. The range of vocabulary is limited, relying on simple, repetitive structures. To improve, you should focus on using more precise terminology related to professional contexts and ensure that common words are spelled correctly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('this provide you'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or run-on, which makes the writing feel disjointed. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the text from reaching a higher band. You should focus on mastering simple sentence structures before attempting more complex ones to ensure accuracy.
