Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 8.0

The letter successfully addresses all three bullet points required by the prompt. You clearly describe the cashier position and its associated duties, explain why your friend's personality and skills make her a good fit, and provide a logical, step-by-step guide on how to apply. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend, maintaining a helpful and encouraging stance throughout. The ideas are well-developed and relevant, ensuring the reader understands both the nature of the job and the rationale behind your recommendation. The response is fully compliant with the task requirements.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 8.0

The letter is logically organized with a clear progression of ideas. Each paragraph focuses on a specific requirement of the prompt, which helps the reader follow the information easily. You use appropriate cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'In addition', and 'After submitting', which link your sentences and paragraphs effectively. The paragraphing is logical and contributes to the overall clarity of the message. The flow of information is smooth, and the relationship between the job description, the candidate's suitability, and the application process is well-managed throughout the text.

Lexical Resource — Band 7.0

You demonstrate a good range of vocabulary appropriate for a semi-formal or informal letter. Phrases such as 'job opportunity', 'suitable candidate', and 'shortlisted for an interview' are used accurately and naturally. While the vocabulary is functional and clear, it could be further enhanced by incorporating more precise or sophisticated collocations to reach a higher band. For instance, instead of 'good at managing money', you could use 'adept at financial management'. However, the current range is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly and effectively without any noticeable errors in word choice.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.5

Your writing displays a good command of grammatical structures. You use a mix of simple and complex sentences effectively, such as 'I am writing this letter to inform you that...' and 'After submitting the application, the company will review your information...'. The grammar is largely accurate, with no significant errors that impede communication. Punctuation is used correctly throughout the letter. To improve further, you could experiment with a wider variety of complex sentence structures, such as using conditional clauses or passive voice more frequently to add variety to your writing style.
