Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The candidate successfully covers all bullet points of the prompt. You tell your friend Raj about the job at 'bright path' involving childcare, preparing activities, and changing diapers. You also clearly explain why it is suitable, pointing out his diploma and one-year experience in early childhood education. Finally, you explain how to apply by providing a link to their website. The tone is appropriately informal and friendly throughout the letter. All parts of the task are well addressed and fully developed with relevant, specific details, earning a solid band score for this criterion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter maintains a clear logical organisation and progression from the greeting to the closing remarks. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different ideas, such as introducing the job, explaining why it suits him, and providing the application details. Cohesive devices like 'Moreover', 'So', and 'When I heard' are utilised, though some transitions feel slightly mechanical or repetitive in their placement at the beginning of sentences. Referencing is generally clear, and the overall structure effectively guides the reader through the message without any breakdown in understanding.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The response demonstrates a sufficient range of vocabulary for the task, including some relevant topic-specific terms such as 'early childhood educator', 'daycares', and 'diploma in early childhood education'. There are, however, a few minor lexical and idiomatic inaccuracies, such as 'in the pink of the health' (instead of 'in the pink of health'), 'job experience' (instead of 'work experience' or 'experience'), and 'for assistance' missing a determiner or preposition adjustment. Despite these occasional slips, the vocabulary is adequate to convey the message clearly and appropriately for a general correspondence task.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as conditional and relative clauses ('through which you can easily apply', 'When I heard about this job your the first person who came'). There are several grammatical errors and punctuation flaws, including missing articles ('need some early childhood educator', 'a teacher need'), subject-verb agreement issues ('a teacher need'), typos ('your' instead of 'you're'), and incorrect capitalization and spacing (e.g., 'bright path'). However, these errors do not impede communication, and the meaning remains clear throughout the letter, which aligns well with the descriptors for this band.
