Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response successfully covers all three bullet points required by the prompt. You tell your friend about the job by mentioning that it has a 'good salary and flexible time schedules.' You explain why it is suitable by highlighting that 'this job help you to become financial stable' and relates to their educational field to help build a career. Finally, you explain how to apply by directing them to the website 'walmart.ca' and outlining the steps to fill out background information and upload a resume. The tone is appropriately informal and friendly, starting with 'Dear friend'. All parts of the task are addressed adequately with relevant ideas, earning a solid band score for task achievement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The letter maintains a coherent overall arrangement with clear links between ideas using cohesive devices such as 'Along with this', 'Moreover', and 'In addition'. However, paragraphing is underdeveloped; the entire body of the letter is compressed into a single, dense block of text instead of being broken down into logical paragraphs for each bullet point. Furthermore, referencing is sometimes unclear, as seen in the phrase 'the job I am going to refer you about' and the missing word in 'you must their terms and conditions'. While the progression of ideas is generally logical and easy to follow, the lack of paragraph breaks and faulty cohesive referencing prevent a higher score.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is adequate for the task, but there are several noticeable spelling and word choice errors. For example, 'opportuinity' is misspelled, 'financial stable' should be 'financially stable', and 'relate' should be 'relates'. You make attempts at less common vocabulary such as 'professional environment' and 'background information', but errors in word formation ('apllication') and collocation ('refer you about') occasionally disrupt the flow. Despite these errors, communication is not severely impeded, and the intended meaning remains clear to the reader, placing this writing firmly in the band 5 range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as the relative clause in 'skills you have at you need to add' (which contains a structural error). There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('this job help you'), missing prepositions, and incomplete sentence structures such as 'you must their terms and conditions' (missing a verb like 'read' or 'accept'). Another run-on error occurs near the end: 'Afterthat in few days you will get a Interview schedule if they pick up your application.' These recurring errors in grammar and punctuation cause some difficulty for the reader and demonstrate limited control over complex structures.
