Dear ................. ,
Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Steve,
I received your letter that you are looking for a job in my country. Fortunetly, I heard about one job in my town that might be suitable for you.
I am currently living in Gambo and there is a old age home nearby my area which is looking for highly skilled professinals for personal care attendent roles. However, this includes roles like taking care of elderly people, keeping their personal belongings organized as well as helping them to commute one place to another.
The predominant reason why I am asking for you to apply in this job is that I remember that you completed a course on healthcare while we were studying in the USA. Moreover, you like working with people so I believe that this job is completely suitable for you. Apart from that, you can visit not only Canada job bank Site but also Indeed.com to apply for this job.
I hope you receive offer for this job and we meet again.
Take care,
Neel

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You successfully covered all three bullet points required in the task instructions. You told your friend about the job in Gambo at an old age home and what the work involves, such as taking care of elderly people, organizing belongings, and helping them commute. You also explained why the job is suitable for him, mentioning his healthcare course from your time studying together in the USA and his friendly personality. Finally, you explained how to apply by pointing him to the Canada job bank site and Indeed.com. All parts of the prompt are fully addressed with clear and relevant ideas, though the tone and development could be slightly more expansive to reach higher bands. Therefore, this performance comfortably satisfies the criteria for Band 6.5, leaning towards Band 7.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
Your letter maintains a clear overall progression and logical arrangement. You structured the response into appropriate paragraphs, starting with a friendly greeting and statement of purpose, moving into details about the job and suitability in the middle paragraphs, and concluding warmly. You used basic cohesive devices such as 'However', 'Moreover', and 'Apart from that' to link your ideas together. However, some of these cohesive devices feel slightly mechanical or are used with minor punctuation slips. Additionally, referencing is occasionally a bit unclear, such as in the sentence 'asking for you to apply in this job'. Overall, the logical flow is easy to follow, making this a solid Band 6 performance in terms of coherence and cohesion.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrated an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items like 'predominant reason', 'professinals', and 'attendent'. While you were able to convey your message clearly, there are several spelling and word choice errors present, such as 'Fortunetly', 'professinals', 'attendent' instead of attendant, and the preposition choice 'apply in this job' instead of 'apply for'. Despite these noticeable slips, your vocabulary is sufficiently varied to communicate your points effectively, matching the expectations of the Band 6 descriptor where vocabulary is adequate but includes some errors that do not impede communication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You used a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as relative clauses ('that you are looking for') and conditional structures. There are, however, several grammatical and mechanical errors throughout the letter. For example, 'I received your letter that you are looking for' is awkward, 'is a old age home' contains an article error, 'nearby my area' is colloquial, and 'commute one place to another' misses a preposition. You also wrote 'receive offer' without an article. These errors occur frequently enough to prevent you from reaching a Band 7, but because they rarely impede communication and you show good control of basic structures, a Band 6 score is appropriate.
