Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response covers all three bullet points required by the prompt in a friendly letter format. Kiran successfully tells Raman about the customer service role, explains why it suits him by referencing his retail experience, and details how to apply through the company website or via email. The tone is appropriate for writing to a friend, and the purpose of the letter is clear throughout. However, some ideas are slightly underdeveloped or contain minor inaccuracies in the job description details (such as managing an annual budget for a basic customer service role). Overall, the task is adequately addressed in a natural manner.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is structured with appropriate paragraphing, dividing the introduction, the job details, the suitability reasons, the application process, and the closing. Cohesive devices such as 'Besides this', 'Apart from it', and 'Moreover' are used to connect ideas, although some transitions feel a bit mechanical or unnatural. The referencing of pronouns is generally clear, and the overall progression of information follows a logical sequence from greeting to farewell, making the letter easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student uses a sufficient range of vocabulary to communicate the message clearly, including terms like 'organisation', 'retail business', 'communication skills', and 'promotions'. There are some noticeable lexical errors and awkward collocations, such as 'seek assistance... to finding' instead of 'to find', 'varities of offers or deal on your goods', and 'apply this occupation'. While these errors do not impede communication, they reflect a limited precision that places the response firmly within the band 6 category.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The writing demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as 'I recently heard a job that is in a local organisation that might suits you' and 'Moreover, you have a good communication skills that help you alot while interacting with an international companies'. There are several grammatical inaccuracies, including subject-verb agreement issues ('might suits', 'duties includes', 'a good communication skills'), incorrect prepositions ('applying this occupation directly visiting on'), and article misuse ('an international companies'). These errors are noticeable but do not prevent the overall meaning from being understood.
