Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Richa,
I hope you are doing well. I am writing to tell you about a new job vacancy in my area which is the best fit for you.
First of all, I would like to give some information about the work that you have to perform. It is a Human Resources ( HR) role in which you have to do hiring, retain employees, and make schedules for workers. I find this job is best for you, as your studies are related to the Management of Business.
Furthermore, I would like to give some sites where you can able to apply for this job; one of them is Indeed, and jobcareer, this two are best for applying for jobs. In addition, I also want to give some tips for interviews, so you can able to crack it easily.
Let me know if you are interested in this job, which might be suitable for you.
Hope to hear from you soon.
Kind regards,
jahanvi.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response covers all three bullet points required in the prompt. First, Jahanvi introduces the job and details the work it involves, mentioning it is a Human Resources role that includes 'hiring, retain employees, and make schedules for workers.' Second, she explains why the job is suitable for her friend Richa by pointing out that 'your studies are related to the Management of Business.' Finally, she explains how to apply by suggesting websites like Indeed and offering interview tips. The purpose of the letter is clear, and a friendly, appropriate tone is maintained throughout, fitting the general training letter format well. All parts of the task are adequately addressed, though some ideas could be slightly more extended. Therefore, this meets the criteria for Band 6.5, leaning towards Band 7.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter exhibits a clear overall arrangement with a standard friendly opening ('Dear Richa,') and closing ('Kind regards, jahanvi.'). Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different ideas, such as introducing the job, explaining duties and suitability, and suggesting application methods. Cohesive devices are employed, including transition markers like 'First of all,' 'Furthermore,' and 'In addition.' However, some referencing is slightly clunky or mechanical, such as 'this two are best for applying for jobs,' which disrupts the natural flow. Paragraph transitions and the general logical progression are maintained, making it easy to follow the writer's intent. This performance aligns comfortably with the Band 6 descriptor.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
Jahanvi uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully incorporating terms relevant to employment and business studies, such as 'vacancy,' 'Human Resources ( HR) role,' and 'Management of Business.' There are, however, some lexical and collocation errors that prevent a higher score, such as 'retain employees' (which lacks parallelism with the gerunds 'hiring' and 'make schedules') and the phrasing 'you can able to apply' or 'you can able to crack it easily.' While these vocabulary limitations and minor inaccuracies are noticeable, they do not impede communication, as the reader can easily understand the intended message. This reflects the characteristics of Band 6 vocabulary use.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The writer demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing relative clauses and conditional-like structures, as seen in 'I am writing to tell you about a new job vacancy in my area which is the best fit for you.' There are, nevertheless, frequent grammatical errors and awkward constructions throughout the text. Notable examples include 'in which you have to do hiring, retain employees, and make schedules' (lack of parallel structure), 'you can able to apply' (incorrect modal structure combining 'can' and 'able to'), and 'jobcareer, this two are best' (punctuation and singular/plural mismatch). Despite these persistent errors, the meaning is generally clear and communication is rarely impeded. This corresponds to a Band 6 grammatical performance.
