Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Navjot successfully covers all bullet points required by the prompt. First, the letter clearly introduces the manager position at Bimbo Beard company, detailing that it is a senior management role in the production area involving operations and staff supervision. Second, the response explains why this is suitable for Ram, mentioning his master's degree in business management alongside appealing hourly rates and company benefits such as health insurance, paid holidays, and accommodation. Finally, the application process is explicitly detailed by directing the friend to the company website. The tone is appropriate for a friendly letter, and the purpose is entirely fulfilled without any missing elements.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter exhibits a clear overall logical organization, moving smoothly from the opening inquiry to the job details, suitability, application instructions, and a polite sign-off. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas, such as the job description, benefits, and application steps. Cohesive devices are generally well managed, with appropriate use of conjunctions like 'As' and 'and', although referencing and transitions could be slightly more varied. Overall, the flow of information is natural and reader-friendly, meeting the criteria for a well-structured correspondence.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
Navjot uses a sufficient range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items related to employment and qualifications, such as 'senior management position' and 'master in business management'. There are, however, some spelling and word-choice errors, such as 'postion' instead of 'position', 'available' instead of 'an available', 'opreation' instead of 'operation', and 'conformation' instead of 'confirmation'. Despite these minor slips, communication is never impeded, and the vocabulary remains entirely adequate for a General Training Task 1 response.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The writer demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing conditional structures and dependent clauses such as 'if they accept it, you will get conformation at you email.' There are several grammatical errors and typos present, including 'You've to manage the opreation', 'As they mentiond', 'To apply this job', and 'contact to me'. However, these errors are mostly mechanical or minor prepositional inaccuracies that do not interfere with the overall clarity or flow of the message. The control over grammar is solid enough to meet the Band 6 profile comfortably.
