Dear ................. ,
Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear John,
Hope you are doing well!!
I am writing this letter to you because you have shown interest in getting a job in my country.
In my current company, there is a vacant position for a junior accountant who can perform daily accounting operations and routine bookkeeping checks. Also, sometimes you have to conduct internal audits on regular intervals.
As you have a Master's in commerce and you have a lot of experience in the accounting field, you will be a better candidate who aligns with this profile. Furthermore, you have good communication skills that are relevant in this role and I personally want you to join my company and boost your career.
If you are interested in this profile, you have a couple of options to apply for this vacancy. Either you can check our company website, or you can walk in here to submit your resume. It will be a better opportunity for you if you get a chance to get here.
Hope to hear you from soon.
Best Regards,
Shivam

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
The response covers all three bullet points of the task effectively. You successfully introduced the job in your company and explained that it involves junior accounting duties, routine bookkeeping, and internal audits. Furthermore, you explained why it is suitable for your friend by referencing their Master's in commerce, accounting experience, and communication skills. Finally, you clearly outlined how to apply through the company website or a walk-in submission. The tone is appropriately informal and friendly throughout the letter. All parts of the prompt are fully addressed with relevant details and clear development, satisfying the requirements for a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter is logically organised with a clear progression from greeting to the purpose of the letter, details of the job, suitability, application methods, and sign-off. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately, with each main point separated into its own logical paragraph. Cohesive devices such as 'In my current company', 'Also', 'As you have', and 'Furthermore' are used effectively to connect ideas, although referencing and transitions could be slightly more natural to reach the highest bands. Overall, the message flows smoothly and the structure is easy to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary with some less common items related to the workplace and accounting, such as 'vacant position', 'internal audits', 'routine bookkeeping', and 'resume'. There are appropriate word choices and collocations that make the writing clear and natural. While there are a few minor infelicities—such as 'on regular intervals' instead of 'at regular intervals' and 'Hope to hear you from soon' instead of 'Hope to hear from you soon'—these minor errors do not impede communication. The lexical range is adequate for a solid band 6.5 or 7.0 performance.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.5
The response features a good mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as 'who can perform daily accounting operations' and 'As you have a Master's in commerce and you have a lot of experience... you will be a better candidate'. There is generally good control of grammar and punctuation. However, there are a few minor grammatical slips, including preposition usage ('on regular intervals') and word order at the end ('Hope to hear you from soon'). Despite these occasional errors, the majority of sentences are error-free and meaning is never obscured.
