Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The writer successfully covers all three bullet points required in the task instructions. First, the letter introduces a job advertisement for a clerk position in a construction company and describes the daily duties such as bookkeeping and managing payrolls. Second, the response explains why this role suits the friend due to his interest in the accounts department and future goal of becoming a chartered accountant. Third, it provides helpful application guidance by mentioning platforms like Indeed and LinkedIn, alongside the company website. The purpose of the letter is clear and maintained throughout. Although some ideas could be slightly more expanded, all requirements of the prompt are addressed adequately, earning a solid Band 6.0.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The letter follows a clear overall structure with an appropriate salutation and sign-off, and it is divided into logical paragraphs covering distinct points. However, the progression and cohesion are somewhat hindered by mechanical errors and inconsistent punctuation. For example, sentences such as 'I have about heard this job advertisement on radio ,this job is available for clark position' demonstrate faulty spacing and comma placement before spaces. While the general arrangement is coherent enough to follow without difficulty, the cohesive devices and referencing (such as 'this job is suitable for because as i know') are occasionally clumsy or incomplete, placing this response firmly in Band 5.5.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary suitable for a semi-formal letter to a friend, including terms like 'bookkeeping', 'payrolls', 'resume', and 'advertisement'. However, there are numerous word choice errors, spelling mistakes ('clark' instead of clerk, 'inddeed', 'linkden', 'neend', 'hesitiate'), and awkward phrasing ('about heard', 'hand on experience' instead of hands-on experience). These lexical inaccuracies and typos occasionally draw the reader's attention and impact precision. Despite these flaws, the vocabulary remains minimally adequate to convey the intended message, which reflects the descriptors for Band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as conditional or dependent clauses ('as i know you have huge interest... and you are planning to...'). However, grammatical control is weak due to frequent errors, including missing prepositions ('apply this job', 'apply through their website with is too easy'), missing words ('suitable for because'), and incorrect verb forms ('provide you enough hand on experience to became good'). Punctuation errors are also prevalent throughout the text. Because errors occur frequently and sometimes cause slight difficulty for the reader, the grammar aligns with Band 5.0.
