Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You successfully cover all three required parts of the letter by telling your friend about the draftsperson job, explaining why it suits him due to his past experience, and detailing the online application process. However, the response sits at this level because the ideas remain somewhat limited and under-developed. For example, while you mention that the company needs someone for a new infrastructure project, you do not elaborate much on the actual day-to-day duties involved. Similarly, the explanation of why he is suitable is somewhat brief. To move up to a higher band, you would need to extend your ideas with more specific details and fully develop each bullet point of the prompt rather than touching on them only cursorily.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
Your letter has a recognizable structure with an opening and a closing, and you use basic cohesive devices such as 'Actually', 'Moreover', and 'furthermore' to link your thoughts. The overall arrangement of your letter is coherent enough to make your message clear to the reader. However, the cohesion can feel a bit mechanical, and paragraphing is problematic since almost the entire body of the letter is compressed into one long, dense paragraph. Referencing is also occasionally unclear due to run-on sentences. To achieve a higher score, you should organize your writing into distinct paragraphs for each separate topic—such as a paragraph for the job description, another for suitability, and a third for the application process—and use a wider variety of transitional phrases naturally.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use a minimally adequate range of vocabulary to communicate your message, attempting some less common words and industry-related terms such as 'infrastructure project' and 'draftsmens'. However, your writing contains noticeable spelling and word choice errors, such as 'heared', 'currently jobless', 'designation', 'quiet suitable', 'skills person', 'olus point', 'producer', 'comany', 'fourm', and 'humen resource'. These lexical errors and awkward word formations are frequent enough to cause some difficulty for the reader and prevent you from reaching a higher band. To improve, you need to focus on correct word forms, accurate spelling, and natural collocations, while avoiding direct translation or misuse of professional vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You demonstrate an attempt to use complex sentence structures, but your writing exhibits a limited range of grammatical control. There are frequent errors in basic sentence boundaries, punctuation, and verb forms, resulting in run-on sentences where multiple ideas are joined improperly without adequate punctuation or conjunctions. Examples include phrases like 'as i heared that your currently jobless here is in our state a open postion...' and 'it is very easy producer to apply just go on the website...'. Furthermore, you make errors with verb tenses and auxiliary verbs, such as 'they are taken very hard interview'. To reach a higher level, you must reduce these frequent grammatical errors by using correct punctuation, avoiding run-on sentences, and ensuring accurate subject-verb agreement and tense consistency.
