Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response successfully addresses all parts of the task by telling the friend about the job as a quality engineer, explaining why it is suitable due to her construction experience and ISO certification, and outlining the application procedure on the company website. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others. While the explanation of suitability is reasonably clear, the details regarding the job duties and the application process are somewhat brief and under-developed. For instance, the mention of how to apply is limited to basic instructions without much elaboration. Nevertheless, a clear purpose is maintained throughout the letter, which allows the response to meet the requirements for this level.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with clear paragraphing, moving logically from the greeting and introduction of the job, to the reasons for suitability, the application steps, and finally the closing. Cohesive devices are used to connect ideas, such as 'Moreover', 'Furtheremore', and 'Additionally', which successfully bridges the gap between paragraphs. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical and referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen in phrases like 'the procedure is effortless, just going to the company website and fill the form'. Furthermore, the transitional flow shows glimpses of higher-level organizational skill, but mechanical usage prevents it from reaching a fully seamless flow. The progression of ideas remains easy to follow despite these minor flaws.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The writer uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items related to the professional context, such as 'quality engineer', 'construction industry', and 'credentials'. However, there are numerous noticeable errors in spelling, word choice, and word formation that draw attention. Examples include 'sice' for 'since', 'recived' for 'received', 'planing' for 'planning', 'alies' for 'aligns', 'lacolas' for 'local', 'experionce' for 'experience', 'controle' for 'control', 'creditional' for 'credentials', and 'assesstence' for 'assistance'. While these errors do not completely impede communication and the meaning can generally be understood, their frequency limits the lexical score. A stronger focus on accurate spelling and word formation is needed to progress.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over structure through clauses joined by conjunctions and relative pronouns. However, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that can cause difficulty for the reader. Issues include run-on sentences and comma splices in the opening section, such as 'i recived your letter that your planing to shift Italy, i searched local market jobs...', tense inconsistencies like 'currently company have many projects', and prepositional or structural inaccuracies such as 'in any industry to manitine the quality' and 'make sure you are resume ISO creditional along with experence certificate to be upload'. Punctuation errors, such as missing capitalisation for pronouns and proper nouns, also persist throughout the text. These frequent errors place the response firmly at this level.
