Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the main parts of the task by telling your friend about the job, explaining why it is suitable, and detailing how to apply. However, some areas are under-developed. While you mention that the work involves grinding and floor preparation to install epoxy, the explanation lacks depth. Furthermore, the response is slightly below the required word count, coming in at 142 words instead of the minimum 150 words. To reach a higher level, you should expand more fully on each bullet point, providing richer details about the working conditions, the schedule, and clear reasons why your friend's specific background or interests make them a great match for this role.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The letter maintains a coherent overall arrangement and follows an appropriate informal letter structure starting with an appropriate greeting. There is a basic logical flow from describing the job to explaining its suitability and finally giving application instructions. However, the cohesion feels somewhat mechanical and lacks smooth transitions between ideas, particularly in the second paragraph where multiple sentences run together without adequate punctuation or linking words. Paragraphing is also an issue, as the body of the letter is compressed rather than being clearly divided into distinct thematic paragraphs for each bullet point. Improving the use of cohesive devices and organizing your ideas into clear, separate paragraphs will significantly enhance the flow and readability of your writing.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

Your vocabulary range is limited but minimally adequate for fulfilling this general task. You make noticeable spelling and word choice errors, such as writing "indeedand" instead of "indeed", "thik" instead of "think", and "sutable" instead of "suitable". You also use repetitive phrasing, such as repeating "the name of the company" multiple times in the application section. While these errors do not completely prevent the reader from understanding your message, they do cause some difficulty and distraction. To improve, you should try to incorporate a wider variety of vocabulary related to employment and daily life, pay closer attention to spelling, and avoid repeating the exact same words and phrases in close proximity.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writing displays a very limited range of sentence structures, relying mostly on simple sentences joined by basic conjunctions or commas, which leads to comma splices like "I hope, you are enjoying your day" and "its a one day job with most of the machine work they also provide breaks...". Attempts at more complex structures are often faulty, and there are frequent punctuation and capitalization errors throughout the text, such as missing apostrophes in contractions like "its" and failing to capitalize proper nouns properly. These frequent errors and the lack of structural variety can cause some difficulty for the reader and prevent the text from achieving a higher level of grammatical control. Focusing on sentence boundary punctuation and varying your sentence patterns will help elevate your grammar.
