Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response successfully covers all the required bullet points of the task. You tell your friend Aman about the housekeeping job at your hotel, explain why it is suitable for him based on your shared university background and hospitality standards, and explain how to apply through the company website and employee referral. However, some parts of the task are developed more fully than others. For instance, the explanation of the job duties is somewhat repetitive and mixes personal commentary with the description, such as "cleaning the floors, making the beds and doing the dust according to standards". To reach a higher level, all aspects of the prompt should be extended with clearer explanations and better-rounded elaboration without losing focus.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter maintains a coherent overall arrangement and follows a logical structure appropriate for an informal request to a friend. You use standard greeting and sign-off conventions, and paragraphs are used to separate different ideas, such as introducing the job, detailing the tasks, and explaining the application process. Nevertheless, cohesion is at times mechanical or faulty. For example, sentences are heavily chained together using words like "because", "Moreover", and run-on structures without adequate punctuation breaks, which makes the progression feel slightly strained. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, such as in the opening sentence where the pronoun use and clause integration obscure the exact meaning.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is minimally adequate for the task, providing enough range to communicate basic concepts about employment and hospitality. You make attempts at less common lexical items, such as "hospitality sector", "reference", and "housekeeping departement", but these are accompanied by noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and word form. For instance, "doing the dust" is an unnatural collocation compared to "dusting", and "departement" contains a spelling mistake. Other inaccuracies like "offical" instead of "official" and "unferstanding" instead of "understanding" demonstrate that control over vocabulary and spelling is limited, which occasionally causes minor distractions for the reader.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writing displays a limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on basic sentence forms alongside attempts at complex sentences that are often faulty. There are frequent errors in verb forms, tenses, articles, and prepositions within grammatical patterns. For example, you write "apply this job" instead of "apply for this job", omit necessary articles before nouns as in "working now in Hotel", and write "hope you you will invite for interview" which contains both a duplication error and a passive voice error. Punctuation control is also weak, leading to run-on sentences with missing commas or full stops where ideas shift. These errors persist throughout the text, though they rarely impede overall communication.
