Student answer (Band 6.5)

Dear John,

I am hope you're doing well.

I am writing this in response to your later dated Oct 01, 2026. Firstly, I am glad that you're looking for a new opportunity and you have concedered my town. Secondly, I recently heard about a Financial Analyst position in my city. I believe that could be a good fit for you as you have similar background. The basic responsiblities of this position include, financial analysis, accounting, reporting and auditing. Moreover, the minimum eligiblity requirement for a candidate to qualify for this role is atleast 3 years. Furthermore, I am not really sure about the salary package and perks that being offered with this position but I am pretty confident that this company pay good to their employees. I strongly believe you meet eligibility createria and you can easily crack the interview as you have required education qualifications, skills and experience.

Moving head with application process, the only way to apply for this position is online, directly on the company's website. I would suggest you to apply as soon as possible because the number of opening for this role is limited and application could fill fasters. In the meantime, I will try to arrange a referral for you.

I wish you all the best for this role.

Your friend,

Navdeep

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

The letter addresses all three requirements: you describe the Financial Analyst role and its duties, explain why John may suit it, and give an application route. The details about analysis, accounting, reporting and auditing make the job clear, while his education, skills and experience support your recommendation. You also offer practical help by saying you will try to arrange a referral. These points are relevant and the friendly purpose is clear throughout. To make the ideas more fully developed, give a little more specific information about the company or the application—for example, what documents John should prepare or where on the website to find the vacancy. The salary and benefits comment is appropriately cautious, but remains general.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The information follows a clear sequence: you respond to John's news, introduce and describe the vacancy, explain his suitability, and then move to the application process and closing wishes. Paragraphing supports this progression, and linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “Furthermore,” and “In the meantime” help connect related points. The letter is easy to follow overall. At times, however, the transitions feel formulaic or slightly awkward, particularly “Moving head with application process,” and the repeated “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “Furthermore” make the links more noticeable than necessary. Use simpler, more natural transitions and connect the application advice directly to the job details to make the flow smoother.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the purpose, including relevant employment terms such as “Financial Analyst,” “responsibilities,” “eligibility requirement,” “salary package,” and “referral.” These choices make the subject clear and show an attempt to use more specific language than basic everyday vocabulary. Some spelling and word-choice errors, however, reduce precision: “concedered,” “responsiblities,” “createria,” and “fasters” are inaccurate, while “crack the interview” and “the company pay good” are not natural collocations in this context. Proofread spelling and learn common workplace phrases as complete expressions. More precise wording would make the letter sound more fluent and professional without losing its friendly tone.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

The letter includes both simple statements and more complex sentences, such as “I strongly believe you meet eligibility createria and you can easily crack the interview as you have required education qualifications, skills and experience.” This shows an ability to link ideas and explain reasons, and the message remains understandable. Some grammatical errors persist, including “I am hope” instead of “I hope,” “I am writing this in response to your later” where the noun should be “letter,” and “this company pay” rather than “this company pays.” There are also article and number issues in phrases such as “the number of opening.” Review subject–verb agreement, articles, and singular/plural forms, then check each sentence for a complete and natural grammatical pattern.
