Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Ahmed,
I hope you are doing well. I got your letter and I'm very happy to know that you are looking for a job in United Arab Emirates. I'm writing to update you about an important vacancy, just announced in DEWA Dubai.
DEWA Dubai has a new opening in their software engineering devpartment. They are looking for a full stack developer with major experience in frontend development. They need a mid-level software engineer, having expertise in Angular framework and should have some knowledge in dotnet 8 and MSSQL. I think you have good hands-on in Angular frontend development as well as you've also worked in dotnet and MSSQL.
The vacancy is just announced yesterday on DEWA's website. It is very easy to signup on their portal and upload your resume with required details. I'm sharing the website URL and other details at the end of this letter. Please go through those steps to apply of this job.
I believe this will help you to secure this job. I hope all the best for you.
Best regards,
Shakoor Hussain.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three points: you identify a software-engineering vacancy, describe its focus and required technologies, explain why Ahmed’s experience fits, and give an application route through DEWA’s portal. The personal link to his Angular, .NET and MSSQL experience makes the recommendation relevant. However, the work itself is described mainly through technical requirements rather than day-to-day duties, and the suitability explanation is brief. The application instructions also promise a URL and further details “at the end,” but these are not included. This covers the task, though some points are less fully developed; adding typical responsibilities and complete application information would make the letter more convincing and complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall sequence: greeting and purpose, job details, application instructions, then a closing. Paragraphing helps the reader distinguish these stages, and links such as “I’m writing to update you” and “I think” make the relationship between ideas understandable. Some cohesion is less natural or precise, however. “I’m sharing the website URL and other details at the end” refers to information that does not appear, so the reference is unclear. The final paragraph also moves quickly from application advice to a general wish. Include the promised details and connect the recommendation, application steps, and closing more smoothly to strengthen progression.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.5
You use an adequate range of job-related vocabulary, including “vacancy,” “full stack developer,” “frontend development,” “expertise,” and “portal,” which communicates the opportunity clearly. There are also attempts at more specific terminology, although some choices are inaccurate or awkward: “good hands-on” is not a natural collocation, and “signup” is less suitable as a verb in this context. “Devpartment” is misspelled, and “dotnet” would be clearer in standard form as “.NET.” These issues do not prevent understanding, but they limit precision and naturalness. Aim for conventional professional phrasing and check spelling and technology names before sending the letter.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.5
The response uses a mix of simple and more complex forms, and most sentences communicate the intended meaning. For example, “I think you have…” links the job requirements to Ahmed’s experience, while the application paragraph gives a sequence of actions. Some grammatical errors remain: “a job in United Arab Emirates” needs an article (“the United Arab Emirates”); “They need a mid-level software engineer, having expertise…” is an awkwardly constructed sentence; and “announced yesterday” would normally require the present perfect (“has just been announced”) in this context. The phrase “apply of this job” also has an incorrect preposition. Review articles, verb forms, and sentence construction to improve accuracy while retaining your varied sentence patterns.
