Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address all three points: you identify a manager position at a café, describe record-keeping and supervising employees, connect the role to your friend’s management degree, and explain an online application process. These details make the letter relevant and useful. However, some parts are less fully developed than others. The job description is brief, and the suitability explanation relies mainly on the degree; you could also connect your friend’s particular experience or strengths to the duties. The application instructions are helpful, but clarify the sequence and what the applicant should do after submitting the form. A more specific, supportive explanation would make the advice feel more complete and personal.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall arrangement: an opening, information about the job, a reason it may suit your friend, application instructions, and a closing. Paragraphing and signposts such as “Firstly,” “Furthermore,” and “Also” help the reader follow the main points. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation, and the progression is generally easy to understand. To make the links more flexible and natural, avoid relying on formulaic transitions and connect related details within paragraphs. For example, the application steps could be presented as a clearly ordered sequence, while the job duties and your friend’s qualifications could be linked directly. The closing also contains a repeated phrase that interrupts the otherwise clear flow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough task-related vocabulary to communicate the main information, including “position,” “duties,” “records,” “employees,” “resume,” and “cover letter.” The meaning is generally clear, and you attempt some useful workplace language. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, such as “looking the work of other employees,” “apply this job,” and “I would like to appreciate it.” There is also a spelling error in “maintaing,” and “different kind of duties” needs more natural phrasing. These issues limit precision and make parts of the letter sound less fluent. Build a stronger range of natural job-application expressions and check spelling and word forms before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more developed sentence forms, and the reader can understand the main message. Some sentences are controlled, such as “The company will contact you via e-mail or phone number,” while other attempts show errors in articles, verb forms, and sentence construction. For example, “the position of manager in the cafe” is missing a verb, and “you did master of management” needs a correctly formed verb phrase. In “you will got submitted email,” the modal is followed by the wrong verb form, and the final sentence contains a repeated “to.” These are some grammatical errors, but they do not generally prevent understanding. Improve accuracy in complete clauses, articles, and verb patterns while continuing to vary sentence structures.
