Student answer (Band 7.0)

Dear Naren,

I hope you're doing well. It's been a while since we last spoke. I'm glad to hear that your looking for a job in my country. I'm writing to let you know that I came across a job opportunity in a local firm which would be suitable for you.

To begin with, it's an entry-level position in Cybersecurity domain, which would improve your technical and behavioural skills. The pay scale would be around [redacted phone]0 cad per annum. The roles and responsibilities primarily involve monitoring the system and user logs through various security tools such as Splunk and Crowdstrike. Additionally, you should work with stakeholders, when escalating the high-priority alerts.

I strongly believe that this job would be a suitable fit for you as a junior role in a top multinational company would allow you to work with multiple clients round-the-globe and broden your prespectives. In addition to that, it would maintain your financial stability by providing fixed income throughout the year.

As a result, I would advice that you apply for this position by using the company's career site. Moreover, you can use the below mentioned Linkedin link to apply directly.

Feel free to buzz me, if you need any help in updating your resume.

let me know your thoughts.

Best regards,

Raj kumar

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.5

The letter clearly addresses all three requirements: you describe a cybersecurity role and its duties, explain why it could suit Naren, and give application routes. Details such as monitoring system and user logs with Splunk and CrowdStrike make the job concrete, while the salary and multinational-company experience add useful context. Your reasons for suitability are relevant, although “broaden your perspectives” and financial stability are somewhat general; linking them more directly to your friend’s particular skills or experience would develop the case further. The application instructions are present, but “the below mentioned LinkedIn link” refers to a link that is not actually included. Overall, the purpose and friendly tone are clear, with room to make a couple of points more specific.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The information follows a clear, useful sequence: opening, job description, reasons for suitability, application advice, and a friendly offer of help. Paragraphing supports this progression, and transitions such as “To begin with,” “Additionally,” and “In addition to that” help connect ideas. The organisation is easy to follow throughout. Some linking phrases are slightly formulaic, however, and “As a result” does not express a clear cause-and-effect relationship before the application advice. The final two lines, “Feel free to buzz me” and “let me know your thoughts,” could be combined into a more smoothly connected closing. More natural, varied transitions and clearer links between ideas would make the cohesion less noticeable.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.5

You use a relevant range of job-related vocabulary, including “entry-level position,” “monitoring,” “security tools,” “stakeholders,” and “high-priority alerts.” These choices communicate the role effectively and show some flexibility beyond basic vocabulary. There are also several inaccurate or awkward choices that limit precision: “broden your prespectives” contains spelling errors, “behavioural skills” is not the most natural description of what the role develops, and “fixed income throughout the year” sounds less idiomatic than a steady salary. “Buzz me” is friendly but quite informal for this letter. Aim for accurate spelling and natural collocations, while keeping the warm tone appropriate to writing to a friend.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.5

You use a mix of simple and more complex sentence forms, including the clause “as a junior role in a top multinational company would allow you…” and the sentence beginning “Additionally.” Most of the message remains understandable, and the job duties are expressed clearly. Some grammatical errors remain: “your looking” should be “you’re looking,” “I would advice” should be “I would advise,” and “when escalating the high-priority alerts” would be clearer as “when escalating high-priority alerts.” The comma in “stakeholders, when escalating” is unnecessary, and the closing “let me know your thoughts” needs a capital letter if it begins a new sentence. Proofreading these forms and punctuation would improve accuracy while preserving your sentence variety.
