Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Sophia,

I hope this letter finds you well. Sorry, I have not written for so long because of my busy schedule.

I am writting this letter to inform you about the job opportunity in Webcom company. They are hiring web developers from all over the world. They will assess candidates for advanced programming skills and communication.

The work involves advance AI modulation techniques and softwares

As you mentioned earlier, you are currently doing research on advance AI modulation, It would be great if you get this opportunity because you have experience in advance programming. Additionally, you are good in English.

It will be easy for you to deal with international clients. Although, salary is above average but they are offering accommodation and travel expenses.

You can easily apply through online portal. You only require experience letter and identification documents. Company will conduct interview online.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours sincerely,

Samra Javed

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address all three points: you describe a web-development role, connect it to Sophia’s AI research and English ability, and explain that she can apply online with supporting documents and an online interview. The advice is relevant and the purpose of the letter is clear. Some details, however, are less fully developed: “advance AI modulation techniques” is not explained as a specific duty, and the application instructions do not identify where to find the portal or how to submit the documents. The salary and benefits are useful additions, but the contrast introduced by “Although” is not completed clearly. More precise job and application details would make the response more fully developed and persuasive.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The letter has a coherent overall arrangement: an opening, information about the vacancy, reasons Sophia may suit it, application guidance, and a closing. Paragraphing helps distinguish these stages, and links such as “Additionally” and “because” make some relationships clear. However, the progression within the job paragraph is abrupt: the hiring criteria are followed by a separate sentence about the work, without much explanation of how these details connect. “Although, salary is above average but…” also uses competing linking structures, making the relationship between salary and benefits unclear. A smoother transition between the role, its requirements, and its benefits, along with more precise referencing, would strengthen cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use vocabulary relevant to employment and technology, including “job opportunity,” “programming skills,” “international clients,” and “identification documents.” This is enough to communicate the main message, but the range and precision are uneven, which limits flexibility. Several choices are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “advance AI modulation,” “softwares,” and “apply through online portal.” “Advance” is also repeated, and “modulation” may not express the intended area of AI research. These choices do not prevent understanding, but they make parts of the letter less clear and polished. Aim for accurate collocations and more specific descriptions of the work and application process.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and more complex forms, including “because of my busy schedule,” “because you have experience,” and “Although…”. Most of the message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors are noticeable. For example, “It will be easy for you to deal…” shifts to “It would be great if you get…” without consistent conditional phrasing, and “Although, salary is above average but…” has faulty clause construction and punctuation. Articles are also missing in “through online portal” and “Company will conduct interview online.” These errors rarely obstruct the meaning, but more consistent sentence construction, article use, and punctuation would improve accuracy.
