Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify a possible supervisor opening at Dairy Queen, explain that your friend has restaurant experience, and give a basic application method: emailing a résumé. However, the task is only partially addressed because key details are missing or unclear. The work involved in the supervisor role is not described, and the job information itself is confusing in “the country club about the supervisor position in the dairy queen.” Your reason for recommending it is relevant, but the reference offer is not fully explained. The response also contains 134 words, below the required 150, so there is limited space to develop the information. Add specific duties, clarify the employer and role, and explain what documents or contact details to include when applying.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The letter follows a broadly sensible order: you introduce the job, explain why your friend may suit it, and finish with an application suggestion and request for a reply. This gives the reader a basic sense of progression. However, the ideas are crowded into one paragraph, and links between them are sometimes abrupt. For example, “Moreover, the interesting thing about it” does not clearly connect the friend’s suitability to the reference offer. The closing sentence also runs several ideas together. Use separate paragraphs for the job details, your recommendation, and application instructions, and add clearer transitions such as “Because of your restaurant experience” or “To apply, …”.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough basic vocabulary to communicate the general purpose of the letter, including “job opening,” “supervisor position,” “dedicated,” “reference,” and “resume.” There are also attempts to use more specific language, but several word choices and spellings are inaccurate or awkward, which makes some details less clear. For instance, “employer basic required” does not express the employer’s requirements naturally, and “give her reference for you” is unclear. “Rest raunt” is misspelled as “restraunt,” while “country club” appears inconsistent with the mention of Dairy Queen. Aim for precise job-related phrases such as “the role requires” and “provide a reference,” and check spelling and collocations before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response mainly uses simple sentence patterns, with a few attempts to join ideas using “because” and “Moreover.” Meaning is generally recoverable, but frequent errors in sentence construction, verb forms, agreement, and punctuation make the letter less fluent. Examples include “your were working,” “this position will suits you,” and “let me know what is your opinion,” where the verb forms or word order are incorrect. Capitalisation and spacing around punctuation are also inconsistent, as in “How are you ? hope” and the lowercase sentence beginnings. Practise accurate present and past forms, and use direct question word order in indirect questions: “let me know what you think.” Short, correctly punctuated sentences would improve control.
