Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sam,
I hope you are doing well. I'm glad to hear from you that you are interested to work in my country. Following this, I made an enquiry about the best companies over here and got a good news for your future.
Knowing you since from my college days in abroad, I know your likes and dislikes. Likewise, I found a job at Walmart in Canada. From next month, they are hiring for customer service manager positions. I believe that you have good communication skills,problem-solving capacity as well as risk-bearing capacity.
Moreover, along with study you worked as a receptionist in abroad. I believe that this experience had a match on this new job profile. You have a good knowledge in how to handle customers and a good team leading capacity as well.
You can apply through the walmart online website. Likewise, you need to submit the resume there and will get a response within five to ten days.
Take time and pick a good decision.I look forward to hear from you soon.
Best regards,
Sree

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three points: you identify a customer service manager role at Walmart, explain that it involves customer-facing work, connect it to Sam’s communication skills and receptionist experience, and give an online application route. The letter is relevant and its friendly purpose is clear. Some details, however, are less fully developed: the duties are mostly implied by the job title rather than described, and the application instructions could be more specific, such as naming the careers page and noting what documents or information to prepare. The suitability explanation is relevant but would be stronger if you linked particular past responsibilities to likely duties in the new role. These additions would make the information more complete and persuasive.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall sequence: opening, job information, reasons Sam may suit it, application instructions, and a closing. Paragraphing helps the reader follow these stages, and links such as “Moreover” signal an additional reason. Some transitions feel mechanical or do not express the relationship precisely; “Following this” and “Likewise” are used where a more direct connection would sound more natural. The reference in “this experience had a match on this new job profile” is also difficult to follow. Use simpler, more precise links and make each paragraph develop one point clearly. The organisation is already coherent, but smoother connections and clearer referencing would make the progression more natural.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough vocabulary to communicate the job, Sam’s strengths, and the application process, including “problem-solving capacity,” “customer service manager,” and “submit the resume.” However, several word choices and collocations are noticeably unnatural, which limits precision: “interested to work,” “got a good news,” “risk-bearing capacity,” and “had a match on this new job profile” do not express the intended ideas idiomatically. There is also some repetition of “good” and “capacity.” Aim for familiar, accurate phrases rather than translating expressions directly, and vary the wording where possible. More natural collocations would make the letter sound fluent while preserving its friendly tone.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and more complex sentences, for example, “Knowing you since from my college days in abroad, I know your likes and dislikes.” The main message remains understandable, but some errors in verb forms, prepositions, articles, and sentence construction reduce accuracy. For instance, “I look forward to hear from you” needs a gerund after “look forward to,” while “Knowing you since from” combines incompatible time expressions. In “From next month, they are hiring,” the time phrase and verb form could be expressed more accurately. There are also missing spaces after commas and full stops. Practise checking verb patterns and sentence boundaries, while retaining your attempts at longer structures.
