Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address all three requested points: you introduce a vacancy, connect it to Mary’s textile studies and previous industry experience, and give a basic application instruction. The job description—work with fibres and dyeing colours used by garment industries—offers relevant information, and the personal reason for recommending her is clear. However, some details are too vague or incomplete to make the letter fully useful. For example, you do not name the role or explain its day-to-day duties, and “fill up an application form” does not say where to obtain or submit it, or what supporting documents are needed. The salary is mentioned only as a possible attraction, without giving a range. Develop these practical details so each part is covered more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The information follows a sensible overall order: you introduce the vacancy, describe the company, explain why Mary may suit it, and then discuss applying. Paragraph breaks also help distinguish these stages, and links such as “Besides” and “That is why” make some relationships clear. This gives the letter a coherent structure. However, the progression is not always smooth: the application instructions are compressed into one sentence, and the final reference to the salary range appears without any actual salary information. Some connections, such as “As I know your background,” are awkward and make the relationship between ideas less clear. Use clearer transitions and separate the job details from the application steps to make the letter easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “vacancy,” “textiles studies,” “similar industry,” “application form,” and “salary range.” These choices show an adequate attempt to discuss employment and the garment sector. However, several inaccurate or unnatural expressions reduce precision, such as “vacancy post,” “largest contributer,” “dying colors,” and “application process is very easy and needs no application.” Some word forms and spelling choices are also noticeable, including “contributer” and “Additionaly.” Aim for more natural employment collocations and check spelling carefully. For instance, describe the opening as a “job vacancy,” refer to “dyeing fabrics,” and explain that the company “accepts applications from overseas candidates.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, including “As I know your background has a strong foundation over textiles studies, I found it highly connected with you.” This shows an effort to connect ideas, but the sentence structure is not controlled enough to express the intended meaning clearly. There are errors in verb forms and agreement, as in “I am written” and “they allows,” and in articles and sentence construction, as in “used a raw material.” Several sentences also lack appropriate punctuation or are joined without clear boundaries, particularly in the opening and application paragraph. These problems sometimes make the reader pause to interpret the message. Practise accurate present and past forms, subject–verb agreement, and complete sentence boundaries while retaining some varied structures.
