Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Jay,

I hope you are doing well ! I am writting to inform you regarding our conversation we had on your working status while we were in canada while studying.

It's been few weeks since I moved from Canada to Usa, after completation of study. Just have recently heard about vacancy for an "administrative assistant" in one of the best company of North America, Taxas.Com . The role they are looking for is perfecty matching according to your study because it requires daily basis operation , managing staff scheduling and fulfiling customers requirments. I think role is best suits as your future job because to apply for this required minimum experience and highschool study matches you perfectly.

To apply for this role, they have provided their all details on their companies website. Moreover, you just need to fill the application form and add my name as reference. Its quite easy to apply for it.

Feel free to massage me if you need any assistance to apply for that position or need more details about company.

Best wishes,

Meetkumar Bhavsar

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address all three points: you identify an administrative assistant vacancy, outline duties such as scheduling and customer support, explain why your friend’s studies and experience may fit, and give basic application instructions. The purpose and friendly tone are clear. The job description and suitability are relevant, but some details are unclear or only briefly explained—for example, “minimum experience and highschool study matches you perfectly” does not specify what experience is required or how Jay’s background meets it. The application guidance would be more useful with the company’s exact website or a contact person and a clearer explanation of what documents to submit. More specific support for your recommendation would make the letter feel more fully developed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The letter has a coherent overall arrangement: you begin by referring to your earlier conversation, introduce the vacancy and its suitability, then explain how to apply and close with an offer of help. Paragraphing supports this progression, and linking expressions such as “Moreover” and “To apply for this role” help signal the stages. Some connections are less smooth, however. The opening sentence is crowded, and the shift from your move to the job description does not clearly show how the company or location relates to Jay. “It” in “Its quite easy to apply for it” is also somewhat repetitive and vague. Use clearer transitions and more precise references to make the flow less mechanical and the relationships between ideas easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the situation, including “administrative assistant,” “staff scheduling,” “customers,” “application form,” and “reference.” This gives the reader a clear general sense of the role and application process. However, noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision, including “writting,” “completation,” “perfecty,” “fulfiling,” “requirments,” “Taxas,” and “massage me.” Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “daily basis operation” and “best suits as your future job.” These errors do not prevent the main message from being understood, but they make the letter less fluent and occasionally obscure details. Check spelling carefully and learn common collocations for job duties and applications.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more developed sentence forms, and the main message remains understandable. For example, the sentence beginning “To apply for this role” gives a clear instruction, while the letter also uses a reason clause with “because.” Some grammatical errors remain, particularly with articles, verb forms, agreement, and sentence construction. Examples include “It's been few weeks,” “one of the best company,” and “the role is best suits.” The long sentence describing the job duties also joins several ideas without clear grammatical control. Aim for accurate basic patterns first, then build longer sentences with clear clauses—for instance, separate the duties from your explanation of why Jay is qualified. More consistent punctuation and spacing would also improve readability.
