Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify a specific local vacancy and explain that it involves cutting and deboning pig carcasses. You also give practical application details, including a CV, passport, clearance, certificates, a possible referral, and a work video. However, the letter only partially fulfils the purpose: you do not clearly explain why the job would suit your friend. Instead, you question their experience and say, “I don't think if you will fit in their team,” which leaves your position unclear and may sound discouraging. The application process is also presented as a list of requirements rather than a clear sequence of steps. Explain what relevant qualities or experience your friend has, then set out how they should apply and what you will do to help.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The response contains the main information in a broadly understandable order: you introduce the vacancy, discuss suitability, and then describe requirements and possible referral. However, nearly all of this is placed in one long paragraph, so the reader has to work to distinguish the different points. Several ideas run together, especially the questions about experience and the later list of documents. The repeated use of “and” and the shift from “let me know” to “send me some video” also make the progression feel abrupt. Use separate paragraphs for the job and its suitability, then the application steps, and connect them with clear transitions such as “To apply” and “If you are interested.”
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant, specific vocabulary for the situation, including “butcher,” “deboning,” “CV,” “clearance,” and “employment certificates.” These terms help communicate the type of work and the documents involved. However, the range is limited and several phrases are inaccurate or awkward, such as “job hiring,” “working years,” and “send me some video showing your work process.” Spelling errors such as “heared,” “refferal,” and “reffer” are noticeable and reduce the polish of the letter. Aim for more natural job-related collocations and check spelling carefully; for example, describe the role as a “butchery position” and ask for a “video demonstrating your butchery skills.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt to combine ideas in longer sentences, and the reader can generally understand the main message. However, the response relies heavily on long, loosely connected sentences, and attempts at more complex structures are often faulty. For example, “I don't think if you will fit in their team” has an incorrect clause structure, while “if you have a updated CV” has an article error. Verb forms and sentence boundaries also need attention: “I heared” and the extended sentence beginning “this is the requirements” make the message difficult to follow. Use shorter, complete sentences, check subject–verb agreement and articles, and punctuate each question and instruction clearly.
