Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Raj,
I hope you're doing well, I am writing this letter to give you inquiries about a job that matches your profile.
Since recieving your letter I've been looking for an adequate open position for you here in Tunisia, and once I came across this opportunity I said: "this is for Raj". The position named supply-chain manager. It is open in one of the largest logistics companies in the capital; It mainly consists of supervising all the provisions of the company and overseeing logistics operations in 2 or 3 sites.
I think that it's perfect for you thanks to your rich experience and specialized education and, guess what, it is mentionned that it can secure a visa sponsorship for foreign applicants.
To apply you just have to share your resume and cover letter via e-mail that I've already sent it to you in messenger.
I really hope that you get this job and looking forward to meating you again. Feel free to ask me if you need assistance.
Best regards,

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
You address all three points clearly: you identify a supply-chain manager role, describe its logistics and supervisory duties, explain its suitability through Raj’s experience and education, and give an application method. The mention of visa sponsorship is also a useful, relevant detail for a friend applying from abroad. Your purpose and friendly tone remain clear throughout. To make the ideas more fully developed, add practical specifics where possible—for example, the company’s name, the application deadline, or what experience the employer is seeking. The suitability point is persuasive but brief; linking Raj’s particular skills to the listed duties would make the recommendation more convincing and better supported.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The letter follows a clear progression from your reason for writing, to the job description, your recommendation, and the application instructions. Paragraphing helps distinguish these stages, and phrases such as “Since receiving your letter” and “To apply” guide the reader through the message. The friendly opening and closing also suit the relationship. Some links between ideas could be smoother: the move from the job duties to why Raj is suitable is quite abrupt, and the long second paragraph contains several different points. Separate the job details from your explanation of suitability, and use a brief transition such as “This role seems especially suitable because…” to make the progression more effortless.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use a relevant range of job-related vocabulary, including “supply-chain manager,” “logistics operations,” “specialized education,” and “visa sponsorship.” These choices communicate the main information effectively, and the informal expressions “guess what” and “Feel free to ask” help establish a friendly tone. However, some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “give you inquiries,” “adequate open position,” and “it is mentioned that it can secure a visa sponsorship.” There are also spelling errors in “recieving,” “mentionned,” and “meating.” Aim for more natural phrasing and check spelling carefully; this would make your vocabulary more precise and fluent.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and more complex sentence forms, including the time clause “Since receiving your letter…” and the reason phrase “thanks to your rich experience…”. The overall meaning is generally understandable, but some grammatical and punctuation errors remain. For example, “I hope you're doing well, I am writing…” joins two independent clauses with only a comma; use a full stop or “and.” In “the position named supply-chain manager,” the sentence needs a verb, such as “The position is called…”. The final sentence, “looking forward to meating you again,” also needs a subject and auxiliary (“I’m looking forward…”). Review sentence boundaries, articles, and complete clause structure.
