Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

You address all three points clearly: you identify an Assistant Architect vacancy, describe drafting house plans using software, explain why Sam’s experience and communication skills fit, and give an email address for applying. The friendly opening and closing also suit a letter to a friend. The job description and suitability are relevant, but they are quite brief; for example, you could clarify the company’s projects or explain more specifically how Sam’s experience matches the duties. The application instructions could also be more complete by saying what to include in the email and whether a CV or cover letter is needed. Overall, the task is fully addressed, with some ideas needing further development.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The letter follows a clear, sensible progression: greeting and personal opening, job details, reasons for recommending Sam, application instructions, and a friendly closing. Paragraphing helps the reader distinguish these stages, and links such as “As” and “If” connect ideas. The message is easy to follow throughout. Some connections could be smoother: “As you had one year of experience in this field, so…” combines two linking patterns, while the transition from the job’s requirements to the application email is abrupt. You could improve flow by using one connector in the first example and adding a brief transition before the application details. Overall, organisation is clear, with a few cohesion choices that could be more flexible.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use enough vocabulary to communicate the job and application details, including “job opening,” “drafting,” “relevant experience,” and “resume.” The tone is appropriately friendly, and the meaning remains clear despite some inaccurate word choices and spelling. For example, “excited” is misspelled as “excitied,” “searching a job” is not the natural expression, and “add” should be “ad.” “Auto Cadd” is also incorrectly written; the software name is AutoCAD. Some phrases, such as “perfect option,” are understandable but less natural than “a good fit.” Greater accuracy with spelling, collocation, and professional job-related vocabulary would make the letter more fluent and precise.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mixture of simple sentences and more developed structures, such as “If you are interested in this job let me know,” and the message is generally understandable. However, some grammatical errors remain. In “your searching a job,” the possessive “your” should be the contraction “you’re,” and the verb pattern should be “looking for a job.” The sentence “As you had one year of experience in this field, so this is perfect option for you” has an incorrect connector structure and is missing an article before “perfect option.” There are also agreement and number issues in “communication skill” and “you have the both.” Aim to check verb forms, articles, and singular/plural agreement; more accurate control of these patterns would strengthen the letter.
