Dear ................. ,
Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear John,
I am writing to let you about a job that you have asked for in your letter. I came to know that you have completed your Marketing diploma recently and have been looking for a suitable job. Well! I guess this is the right time to introduce you to the company that I have been working for.
My company is hiring a Social Media Marketing Specialist to take care of the online management of sale products. The tasks includes content creation, social media management and online brand promotion of the products.
Since you have good communication skills, leadership qualities and efficient in strategic planning, I believe you would be a valuable addition to the organization.
You can apply for the job by visiting the company's website and creating your personal profile. On approval, the company will call you for an interview and results will be displayed on your profile within one week.
Let me know if you need any further details regarding this.
Wish you best of luck!
Kind regards,
Arzoo

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
The letter addresses all three requirements: it describes a Social Media Marketing Specialist role and lists duties, explains why John may suit it, and gives an application route. The purpose and friendly relationship are clear, with an appropriate greeting and sign-off. The explanation of suitability is relevant, linking his communication and leadership skills to the role, although it would be stronger if it connected his marketing diploma or experience more directly to the specific duties. The application instructions are understandable but somewhat general; adding a link or naming the documents to submit would make them more useful. Overall, the key ideas are extended enough to guide the reader, though a few details remain broad.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The information follows a clear sequence: you introduce the reason for writing, describe the vacancy, explain John's suitability, and then outline how to apply. Separate paragraphs help the reader follow these stages, and links such as “Since” and “On approval” show relationships between ideas. The letter also maintains a consistent friendly tone. Some transitions are a little abrupt, particularly the move from the job description to John's qualities, and “Well!” feels less natural as a connector in this context. A brief linking sentence or more integrated explanation of how his skills match the duties would make the progression smoother. Overall, organisation is clear and cohesive, with only minor unevenness in linking.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “Social Media Marketing Specialist,” “content creation,” “brand promotion,” and “strategic planning.” These terms make the role and John's relevant qualities clear. There are, however, some awkward or imprecise choices that limit naturalness: “let you about a job” is not the usual expression, “online management of sale products” is unclear, and “efficient in strategic planning” uses an unsuitable form. “Results will be displayed” is also vague about what results means. Aim for more natural collocations and precise wording, especially when describing the company's products and the hiring process. The message remains understandable despite these inaccuracies.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The letter includes a mix of simple and more developed sentence forms, such as “Since you have good communication skills …, I believe you would be a valuable addition.” Most sentences communicate their meaning clearly, and the conditional “would be” is used appropriately. Some grammatical errors remain. In “I am writing to let you about a job,” the infinitive needs an object (“let you know”); “The tasks includes” has a subject–verb agreement error; and “you have … qualities and efficient” lacks a parallel grammatical form. The phrase “Wish you best of luck” also needs an article or a fuller construction. These issues rarely obstruct understanding, but checking agreement and ensuring parallel structures would improve accuracy.
