Student answer (Band 5.5)
Dear karan,
I hope you are doing great, im writing this in responce to your letter about job. firstly thank you for trusting on me to help you for this important decison. now, lets jump right into fixing your issue.
Recently, one of my ex-cowerker was telling me that my fromer work company "TVH Canada" company is hiring, they are hiring forklift operators paying you 21$ an hour. It includes loading and unloading shipments.
This is best opportunity for you In my opinion, This work only requiers basic training and no past work experience. on top of that it would give you night shifts that might help you out to study during day time.
Now to get hierd in this position you need to vist "AMG staffing" and give my reference when applying.
Wish you all the best, you would get this job for sure.
Best regards,
Bhupinder singh

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You cover the three requested points: you describe a forklift-operator vacancy and its loading and unloading duties, explain that basic training is enough and night shifts may suit your friend’s studies, and give an application route through AMG Staffing with your reference. However, the explanation is brief, especially the application instructions, and the letter is one word below the required minimum. The opening also spends space on phrases such as “fixing your issue” rather than developing useful details—for example, what documents to bring or whom to contact. The main purpose is clear, but the ideas are limited and not fully developed; adding practical application details and a little more information about the role would make the response more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall arrangement: an opening, a paragraph about the vacancy, a paragraph explaining its suitability, and a closing with application advice. Sequencing words such as “Recently,” “on top of that,” and “Now” help the reader follow the points, and the message is easy to understand. To make the progression more natural, use a more direct opening and connect the job details to your recommendation rather than relying on formulaic transitions such as “lets jump right into fixing your issue.” The application paragraph is very short and could be expanded with a clear sequence of steps. Overall, the organisation is coherent, though some linking feels mechanical and the development between points could be smoother.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough job-related vocabulary to communicate the main information, including “forklift operators,” “loading and unloading shipments,” “basic training,” and “night shifts.” However, the range is limited, and several spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable: “responce,” “ex-cowerker,” “fromer,” “requiers,” and “hiered.” Some expressions are also unnatural, such as “trusting on me” and “give my reference.” These errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the message, but they reduce precision and naturalness. Aim to check spelling carefully and use conventional phrases for employment correspondence, such as “provide my name as a reference” and “apply for the position.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
Your sentences communicate the basic message, and you attempt some longer structures, for example, “This work only requiers basic training and no past work experience.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently in sentence boundaries, capitalisation, articles, and verb forms. The opening runs several clauses together: “I hope you are doing great, im writing this…”; these should be separated and punctuated as complete sentences. There are also patterns such as “one of my ex-cowerker was telling me,” where the plural noun and verb agreement need attention, and “it would give you night shifts,” which does not express the intended meaning clearly. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then add complex clauses with careful punctuation.
