Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address the three main points: you identify a Senior Sales Manager vacancy at Amazon, connect it to your friend’s business studies and co-op experience, and recommend applying through the company’s careers site. These details make the letter relevant and give the reader a useful starting point. However, the job’s actual duties are not explained, and the application guidance is brief: you could mention what documents to submit or how to find the specific listing. The reasons the role suits Kamal are present but not fully developed, and the salary and accommodation claims are not clearly linked to the advertised position. Expand these points and make the job information more specific.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a generally clear sequence: it introduces the vacancy, explains why Kamal may suit it, and then gives application advice. The closing also fits the friendly relationship. This coherent overall arrangement supports the reader’s understanding. To make the progression more effective, separate the job description and suitability reasons from the application instructions, ideally using distinct paragraphs. Some links between ideas are awkward or unclear, particularly “along with a co-op to be perfect match” and “as well this job”; the reader has to work out how the qualifications relate to the role. Use clearer transitions and refer to the job and experience more precisely. The organisation is sound, but cohesion is not consistently smooth.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant vocabulary for employment and qualifications, including “Senior Sales Manager,” “professional resume,” “Business Management course,” and “selection.” This gives the letter an appropriate topic focus. However, the range is limited, and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “assist you applying,” “reliable company to work with,” and “enhance the outcomes of your selection.” Spelling errors including “asssist,” “divsion,” and “accomodation” are noticeable and reduce the accuracy of the message. Aim for more natural employment phrases and check spelling carefully. For example, describe the role’s responsibilities with precise terms such as managing client accounts or meeting sales targets, rather than relying mainly on the job title.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts a longer sentence to connect Kamal’s education and experience to the vacancy, and it also uses straightforward sentences to give advice. However, the range of structures is limited, and complex sentences are often faulty. Examples include “I am writing to assist you applying” and “You have scored first division … and that course has taught us a lot … to be perfect match,” where sentence construction and grammatical relationships are unclear. There are also errors in articles, agreement, and punctuation, such as “one of the most … company” and the missing space after “great.” These problems sometimes make the reader pause to interpret the meaning. Build shorter, complete sentences first, then connect them accurately with clauses.
