Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Akwinder,
How are you? Hope you are doing good. I want to tell you tha I heard about a local company that might be suitable for you.
The comapny has a vacancy for a technician position. The technician job required someone to repair or replace the old computer and laptops parts with new one and provide details of new installed softwares and parts to the supervisor. Responsible technician who can work under fast paced is highly needed.
I think this job might be suitable for you because you have a IT background and four year of experience as a technician that makes you perfect for this position.
To apply for this job you just need to visit their website. Fill online application form and send your resume on the given link and hopefully you'll receive their decision or interview within 3 to 4 working days.
Hope for the best and can't wait to hear the good news from your side.
Best wishes,
Manveer

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The letter addresses all three required points: it describes a technician vacancy and its duties, links the role to your friend’s IT background and experience, and explains that the application is made through the company website. The friendly opening and closing also suit the relationship. The job description is relevant, but some details are unclear—for example, “provide details of new installed softwares and parts” does not explain precisely what information the technician must report. The suitability point is also brief, relying mainly on the friend’s background and four years of experience. To strengthen the response, add a specific reason the role matches those skills and clarify the duties or application steps. The main points are covered, but not all are developed equally.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The information is arranged in a sensible order: you introduce the vacancy, describe the work, explain why it suits your friend, and then give application instructions. Separate paragraphs help the reader follow these stages, and phrases such as “I think this job might be suitable for you” make the purpose of the next paragraph clear. The letter also has an appropriate greeting and sign-off. Some connections are rather mechanical, however, and the transition from the job duties to the suitability paragraph is abrupt. The application instructions are compressed into short commands, which makes the sequence less smooth. Use a few natural linking phrases and connect the steps more clearly—for example, explain what to do after submitting the online form.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough job-related vocabulary to communicate the main idea, including “vacancy,” “technician position,” “repair or replace,” “supervisor,” and “online application form.” These choices show some range beyond very basic language. However, several spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable, such as “comapny,” “tha,” and “softwares,” and some phrases are not natural in this context: “work under fast paced” and “receive their decision” are unclear or awkward. These issues do not prevent the reader from understanding the letter, but they limit precision and naturalness. Check spelling carefully and learn common collocations for describing job requirements and recruitment, such as “work in a fast-paced environment” and “hear back from the company.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The letter includes mostly straightforward sentences and some attempts to combine ideas, such as “I think this job might be suitable for you because…” This allows the reader to understand the message, but grammatical control is uneven. Examples include “Hope you are doing good,” “The technician job required,” “you have a IT background,” and “four year of experience”; these involve sentence construction, tense, article, and number agreement. The application instructions also shift into commands—“Fill online application form and send your resume”—without a clear grammatical link to the preceding sentence. Aim to produce a wider mix of accurate sentence patterns, and check verb forms, articles, and singular/plural agreement. For example, “The role requires someone to repair or replace computer parts” is clearer and more controlled.
