Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Arun,
i hope this letter finds you fit and fine.First of all thanks for choosing my country to work in.
I have heard about a lots of local companies hiring but , the one I will suggest you is Mcconnell Transport ltd. because it has good reputation and pay structure is also quite heavy from begining .
In my research about them I found that they need analist with at least two years of experience, thats what you have been doing since i left canada 4 years ago. Work will be regarding analysis of financial aspects. I also think that the location will also be a factor for sutaibility as it is situated in centre of mall and can be acessed easily by bus.To apply for that you can directly go to thier website and add your resume thier. In addition, mention name of my uncle Tommy Versache he works their. It will help you.
I will be waiting to hear from you. Do not hesitate if you need any other help.
Your lovingly

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The letter addresses all three required points: it identifies a vacancy at McConnell Transport, describes financial analysis, explains that Arun has relevant experience, and gives a website-based application route. The personal recommendation to mention your uncle also makes the advice specific to the recipient. These relevant details meet the task well, but some are not fully clear or developed. For example, “pay structure is also quite heavy” does not explain the salary or conditions, and the job description could say more about the analyst’s daily responsibilities. The suitability point relies mainly on experience, while the location detail is confusing. Clarifying these points and making the application steps more precise would make the response more complete and persuasive.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The overall arrangement is easy to follow: you introduce the recommendation, explain the role and its suitability, then give application advice and close the letter. Paragraphing supports this progression, and phrases such as “In addition” help connect related advice. However, some links are mechanical or unclear. The long middle paragraph moves from experience to duties, location, website instructions, and your uncle without clear separation. In “thats what you have been doing,” the reference is understandable but could be more explicit, and “To apply for that” has an unclear reference. Divide the central information into shorter paragraphs and use clearer transitions between the job description, reasons for suitability, and application instructions.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main information, including “reputation,” “financial aspects,” “experience,” and “resume.” There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “pay structure” and “analysis,” although some choices are inaccurate or unnatural and reduce precision. Examples include “pay structure is also quite heavy,” “analist,” “sutaibility,” and “accessed easily by bus”; the intended meanings can generally be inferred, but spelling and collocation errors are noticeable. “Centre of mall” is also an unclear description of the location. Aim for accurate, natural phrases such as “competitive salary,” “financial analyst,” and “near the city centre,” and check spelling carefully before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The letter includes a mix of simple and more complex sentence forms, and the main message remains understandable. For instance, you use a relative clause in “a local company that might be suitable” and give a reason with “as it is situated…”. However, some grammatical errors remain, particularly with sentence boundaries, articles, and verb patterns. In “First of all thanks for choosing my country to work in,” punctuation is needed after the introductory phrase. “I will suggest you is” has an incorrect structure; use “I would suggest is” or “I would recommend.” The sentence beginning “In my research about them I found” also needs clearer punctuation and phrasing. Capitalisation of “i” and sentence-initial words should be consistent. More accurate control of these patterns would strengthen the letter.
