Student answer (Band 7.0)
Dear Rohit,
How have you been? It's been so long since I've seen you. I just learned that you are looking for a job in my country. I heard about a vacancy at Jio Platforms for their marketing team.
This job is basically located in the central part of the city, near the IT hub. It involves handling their social media accounts, such as Instagram and Facebook, and promoting their services and offers digitally. Moreover, you have to work closely with the sales team and helps them achieve their monthly targets.
This job is best and suitable for you because you have all the qualifications and experience that they require. Moreover, you are the best fit here because you graduated in the marketing field and you have experience as a marketing manager at RBC Bank.
You need to apply for this job through their website and make sure all your documents are ready because you need to fill out the form in one sitting, and also make sure to email your resume to the hiring manager as soon as possible.
If you have any queries, feel free to reach out to me.
Best Wishes
Naman

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.5
The letter addresses all three requirements clearly. You identify a specific vacancy at Jio Platforms, explain that it involves managing social media and supporting the sales team, connect the role to Rohit’s marketing degree and experience, and give practical application steps through the company website and an email to the hiring manager. The friendly opening and closing also suit the relationship. The explanation of suitability is relevant, though “you have all the qualifications and experience that they require” is broad; naming a particular skill or achievement from Rohit’s background would make the recommendation more convincing. Similarly, the application instructions could be more precise about where to find the vacancy or what documents to submit.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The information follows a clear, useful sequence: you introduce the vacancy, describe its duties, explain why Rohit suits it, and then outline how to apply. Paragraphing supports this progression, and linking expressions such as “Moreover” and “because” help connect related points. The letter is easy to follow from beginning to end. To make the organisation feel more natural and flexible, avoid using “Moreover” twice in close succession and use a wider range of transitions or simply let the ideas connect without an explicit linker. The application paragraph also contains several instructions in one long sentence; separating these into shorter steps would make the practical advice easier to scan.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.5
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for a friendly job-referral letter, including relevant terms such as “vacancy,” “marketing team,” “promoting their services,” and “hiring manager.” These choices make the role and application process clear. There is some attempt at more specific workplace language, but a few phrases are imprecise or repetitive: “This job is basically located” is awkward, while “best and suitable” repeats the same idea. “All the qualifications and experience that they require” is also general rather than precise. More natural collocations and varied wording would show greater flexibility. For example, describe the role as “based near the IT hub” and refer to Rohit’s “relevant qualifications and professional experience.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.5
The letter includes a mix of simple and more developed sentences, and most of the meaning remains clear. You use subordinate clauses effectively in “because you graduated in the marketing field” and “because you need to fill out the form in one sitting.” However, some grammatical errors remain. In “you have to work closely with the sales team and helps them,” the verb should agree with “you” (“help”). The phrase “you graduated in the marketing field” would be more naturally formed as “you graduated in marketing.” The long application sentence also joins several instructions with repeated “and,” making its structure less controlled. Check agreement and divide multi-step instructions into separate sentences.
