Student answer (Band 6.5)

Keeping everything organized and clean would help a person to increase his productivity level and save time. Some people argue that this strategy should be followed at the workplace as well as at home. I totally agree with the aforementioned statement and explanation in detail would be discussed below with relevant examples.

To begin with, cleanliness and organizing items would always help to increase the productivity of an individual. People would never feel fatigued whenever they see a clean environment around them. It would help them to elevate their mood . When everything is placed at the right place then people would not waste their time in finding things at the workplace. They will only be focused towards their work. As a result, this would help them to complete their work on time before the deadline if all the items they want to use is available on their desk. Furthermore, a messy environment would also affect the mental health. A person would feel very frustrated and anxious if surrounded by a dirty floor at the workplace or at home.

Moreover, keeping significant things at the correct place will save things from losing. Sometimes a person in a hurry situation usually misplace things. This really puts him in a depressed mood when he finds out that he had lost his most precious item. Consequently, putting things in order provides a person a strong sense of peace and accomplishment. For instance, a research shows that careless people often lose important things such a property documents, gold or their valid identity.

To conclude, in my opinion people must take care of their things by putting them at the right place and keep their surroundings tidy. This is good for an individual safety and their mental wellbeing.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, clearly stating a position in the introduction and maintaining it throughout. The ideas regarding productivity and mental health are relevant and extended with supporting examples, such as the mention of losing important documents. However, the development is somewhat repetitive, and the arguments could be more nuanced to reach a higher band. The conclusion effectively summarizes the main points, ensuring the task requirements are fully met.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organized with a clear progression of ideas. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Furthermore', and 'Consequently' are used to link ideas, although some transitions feel slightly mechanical. The referencing is generally clear, and the flow of the argument is easy to follow throughout the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is sufficient for the task, allowing for clear communication of ideas. There are some attempts at less common items, such as 'fatigued' and 'accomplishment'. However, there are occasional inaccuracies in collocation and word choice, such as 'save things from losing' (should be 'prevent things from being lost') and 'hurry situation' (should be 'rushed situation'). The range is adequate but lacks the sophistication required for higher bands.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'explanation in detail would be discussed' (passive voice misuse), 'if all the items they want to use is available' (subject-verb agreement error), and 'a research shows' (article error). These errors do not impede communication, but they indicate a need for more consistent control over complex structures.
