Student answer (Band 6.0)

The inclination towards keeping the workplace and home tidy is more relevant due to some attributed factors. One of the main reasons I believe in this idea more is due to the mental peace you get while clearing the clutter out. Cleaning the home and workspace makes you feel like you are clearing your brain too.

According to my perspective, people should start doing these changes at both of the places. This will make their day go clear without creating any mess or mistakes in the workplace. Especially when a person comes home to a clean space, they will seem less tired and irritated. Whenever it's not busy at work, I tend to clean my space, which makes me think more clearly without any abrupt thoughts. Some people might not find these ideas good because they have never looked through this lens. They feel like cleaning is a task they need to get over with. But, if you see cleaning is like a therapy.

The thought behind agreeing to the above-mentioned idea is because I aim to do this more often. And I have felt the change and gotten to learn the importance. Whenever I am overthinking about any silly reason, I tend to clean my apartment. By doing so, it helps to clear my mind too. There is scientific evidence that links overthinking thoughts with cleaning. They believe the brain gets disrupted by the mess that is in front of us and gets irritated more. Due to this reason, it is really hard to find solutions to any problems either at home or workplace.

To conclude, I would suggest trying it for a change rather than being lazy. People will get to know the importance of cleaning.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear opinion in favor of maintaining a tidy environment. The main ideas—mental clarity and reduced stress—are relevant. However, the development is somewhat repetitive, particularly in the second and third paragraphs, where the same point about 'clearing the mind' is restated multiple times. To reach a higher band, you should expand on the practical benefits in the workplace (e.g., increased productivity or efficiency) rather than focusing solely on the psychological aspect. The conclusion is a bit abrupt and lacks a summary of the main points, which limits the depth of the response.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, and there is a logical progression of ideas. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly unnatural, such as 'According to my perspective' or 'The thought behind agreeing to the above-mentioned idea'. Referencing is occasionally unclear, for example, in the phrase 'They believe the brain gets disrupted', where 'They' does not clearly refer to a specific group mentioned previously. While the paragraphing is functional, the transitions between sentences could be smoother to improve the overall flow of the argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. You rely on simple phrases like 'doing these changes', 'get over with', and 'silly reason'. There are some attempts at more sophisticated language, such as 'inclination' and 'scientific evidence', but these are not always used in the most natural way. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and academic vocabulary related to organization and psychology. The range is sufficient to communicate your meaning clearly, but it does not demonstrate the flexibility required for a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'Whenever it's not busy at work' (should be 'When it is not busy'), 'if you see cleaning is like a therapy' (should be 'if you see cleaning as therapy'), and 'overthinking thoughts' (redundant). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but some sentence constructions are awkward. The control over complex structures is inconsistent, and the errors occasionally distract the reader, though they do not impede overall communication.
