Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear opinion on the importance of tidiness. However, the essay is significantly under the 250-word minimum, which limits the depth of the arguments provided. While the ideas are relevant, they are somewhat underdeveloped; for instance, the benefits of tidiness are mentioned but could be expanded with more detailed examples or a broader discussion on the impact of clutter on productivity or stress levels. The conclusion is also quite brief and does not fully synthesize the points made. To improve, you should aim to expand each body paragraph with more detailed explanations and perhaps a counter-argument or a more nuanced perspective to meet the length requirement.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'In my opinion', 'There are some people who', and 'In conclusion'. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the use of linking words could be more varied. For example, the transition between the second and third paragraphs is abrupt. To improve, try to use a wider range of cohesive devices to connect your ideas more fluidly and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that guides the reader through your argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to express your opinions clearly. You use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'cleanliness', 'organized', 'rejuvenates', and 'spotless'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are instances where word choice could be more precise. For example, 'main my health' is a collocation error (should be 'maintain'). To reach a higher band, focus on incorporating more sophisticated vocabulary and idiomatic expressions related to the topic, and ensure that your word choices are consistently accurate and appropriate for a formal essay.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues like 'some people who does not' (should be 'do not') and 'this practice not only support' (should be 'supports'). Additionally, there are minor punctuation and phrasing errors, such as 'it is a very important to keep' (remove 'a'). To improve, focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and article usage, and try to incorporate a wider variety of complex sentence structures with greater accuracy.
