Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear opinion on the importance of tidiness. However, the essay is significantly under the 250-word minimum requirement, which severely limits the development of ideas. While the introduction and the first body paragraph provide some relevant points regarding productivity and time management, the second body paragraph is incomplete and cuts off abruptly. Because the response is only 191 words, the ideas are not fully extended or supported as required for higher bands. To improve, you must ensure you reach the word count by fully developing your arguments with more detailed examples and a proper conclusion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay shows a basic attempt at logical organization, with an introduction and body paragraphs. However, the progression of ideas is hindered by the incomplete nature of the final paragraph. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Moreover' and 'For instance,' but they are somewhat mechanical. Paragraphing is present, but the abrupt ending disrupts the overall flow and structure of the piece. To achieve a higher score, ensure that each paragraph is fully developed and that you use a wider range of cohesive devices to link your ideas more naturally and effectively throughout the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on somewhat repetitive phrasing, such as 'organized and tidy workplace' and 'proper place.' There are some minor collocation issues, such as 'organized manner' instead of 'organized environment' or 'organized lifestyle.' While the meaning is clear, the vocabulary is quite basic and lacks the sophistication or variety that would demonstrate a higher level of lexical control. Incorporating more precise synonyms and topic-specific collocations would help improve your score in this area.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'organized things at their proper place is mandatory' (subject-verb agreement/word order) and 'clean workplace and home provide us better productivity' (missing articles). Additionally, phrases like 'time saviors' are used incorrectly in context. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to affect the overall clarity. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, article usage, and subject-verb agreement before attempting more complex grammatical structures.
