Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is stated that people should keep their work place and their home well organized. I personally ponder that it is an essential part of the life where individuals should put efforts to make their place neat and clean. In this essay, I am going to discuss several reasons that why everyone should follow this good habit.

In the first place, one major reason to keep the place tidy is to save the time. As everyone knows, in today's time people are living fast-paced lifestyle, they do not have much time to find anything when there is an urgency. So, if they have kept the required items at its proper designated place, then they do not have to hustle on the time of requirement. For instance, in the office employees put their files and documents on the file rack in alphabetical order, so it becomes easier for them to take out any file in no time. As a result, they save a lot of time and can utilize it in some other work.

Furthermore, another reason for why one should keep his/her place organized is to avoid clutter. To illustrate it, if a person is putting all kind of things at one single place, then it may lead to confusion. For example, in many houses of India, people try to adjust so many things such as toothpaste, soaps, shampoo bottles and even hand wash in the same small cabinet under the basing. Therefore, whenever they take out one thing form the cabinet everything else falls down on the ground and create mess all around the basing area.

To summarize the above narratives, I personally believe that to keep your surrounding work and personal space well organized is essential because it many save your time and also keeps you away from the mess.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt clearly and maintains a consistent position throughout. The ideas are relevant and supported by examples, such as the office filing system and the household cabinet scenario. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited; the essay could benefit from a deeper exploration of the psychological or productivity-related benefits of organization to reach a higher band. The introduction and conclusion are present, but the conclusion is quite brief and merely restates the main points without adding a final thought or synthesis. Overall, the task is fully addressed, but the depth of argument is moderate.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas. Cohesive devices such as 'In the first place,' 'Furthermore,' and 'To summarize' are used to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing and flow, such as the phrase 'at its proper designated place' where the pronoun 'its' lacks a clear singular antecedent. Despite these minor issues, the progression of ideas is clear and easy to follow throughout the text.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'fast-paced lifestyle' and 'designated place.' However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'hustle on the time of requirement' instead of 'waste time searching' and 'basing' instead of 'basin.' While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise control over lexical items to reach a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the writer attempts complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'I personally ponder that it is an essential part of the life' (incorrect verb choice and article usage) and 'it many save your time' (typo). Subject-verb agreement and preposition usage are occasionally inconsistent, such as 'take out one thing form the cabinet.' Despite these errors, the meaning remains clear, and the punctuation is generally functional. The writer shows a reasonable grasp of grammar, but more attention to detail is needed to reduce error frequency.
