Student answer (Band 7.0)
In today’s fast-paced world, people spend a considerable amount of time at home and in their workplaces. Some people believe that it is important to keep these places tidy, with everything organised and kept in the correct place. I completely agree with this view because a clean and organised environment can improve productivity, reduce stress and help people manage their time more effectively.
To begin with, maintaining a tidy workplace can have a positive impact on employees’ concentration and productivity. When documents, equipment and other necessary items are arranged properly, workers can find them quickly and avoid wasting valuable time. Furthermore, a clean workplace can reduce distractions and allow employees to focus more effectively on their responsibilities. For example, if an employee keeps important files in clearly labelled folders, they can easily access the required information when completing an urgent task. As a result, an organised workplace can help employees work more efficiently and achieve better results.
Another significant benefit of keeping a home tidy is that it can reduce stress and create a more comfortable living environment. After spending several hours at work, people usually want to relax in a peaceful and pleasant place. However, a messy house with clothes, books and other belongings scattered around can make people feel overwhelmed. In contrast, when everything has its own place, household activities become easier and less stressful. For instance, keeping kitchen utensils and groceries organised allows family members to prepare meals quickly without searching for necessary items.
Moreover, cleanliness and organisation can also encourage people to develop good habits. Children who grow up in an organised home may learn to take responsibility for their belongings and keep their surroundings clean. These habits can later be useful in their academic and professional lives.
In conclusion, I strongly agree that homes and workplaces should be kept clean and organised. Such an environment not only improves productivity and saves time but also reduces stress and contributes to a more comfortable and positive lifestyle.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
The response fully addresses the prompt by clearly stating a position in the introduction and maintaining it throughout the essay. Each paragraph introduces a distinct, relevant point—productivity in the workplace, stress reduction at home, and the development of good habits—which are well-supported with logical explanations and concrete examples, such as the mention of 'clearly labelled folders' and 'kitchen utensils'. The ideas are extended sufficiently to meet the requirements of the task, and the conclusion effectively summarises the main arguments without introducing new information. The response is balanced and demonstrates a clear understanding of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The essay is logically organised with a clear progression of ideas. Each paragraph has a central theme, and the transition between paragraphs is smooth, using appropriate cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Furthermore', 'In contrast', and 'Moreover'. The use of referencing is accurate, and the internal structure of the paragraphs is coherent. The writer manages cohesion well, ensuring that the reader can follow the argument without difficulty. Paragraphing is used effectively to separate the different aspects of the discussion, contributing to an overall sense of clarity and logical flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is precise and appropriate for the context of the task. The writer uses a sufficient range of vocabulary to express ideas clearly, including collocations like 'fast-paced world', 'positive impact', 'clearly labelled', and 'overwhelmed'. While the vocabulary is functional and accurate, it could be elevated further by incorporating more sophisticated or idiomatic expressions to reach the highest band. However, the current range is more than adequate for the task, and there are no instances where word choice impedes communication or causes confusion.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.0
The essay demonstrates a good command of grammatical structures. There is a mix of simple and complex sentences, such as the use of conditional structures ('if an employee keeps...') and relative clauses ('Children who grow up...'). The majority of the sentences are error-free, and the punctuation is used correctly throughout. While the grammatical range is solid, it remains somewhat conventional. To achieve a higher score, the writer could experiment with more varied sentence types, such as inversion or more complex passive constructions, though the current level of accuracy is very high.
