Student answer (Band 6.5)
Some individuals say it is essential to maintain a well-kept home and workplace. I agree with this statement. Keeping the home and workplace tidy, encourages safety and prevents items from going missing.
Safety in the home and workplace is essential, as this will reduce the occurrence of home or workplace accidents. Keeping our work and home environment tidy will prevent a great deal of accidents. These accidents can incur unexpected cost. In serious cases, it can lead to loss of lives and properties. Hazardous household products should be organized in a safe place to limit harm. Children's toys should be organized properly to limit falls which can potentially cause fractures and brain injuries. For example, improper storage of insecticide or pesticide can cause system poisoning if mistakenly consumed by toddlers or babies.
Furthermore, proper organization of the home or workplace, prevents items from going missing. Several items go missing in our homes, because they were not stored properly. Organizing items, especially with labels, will allow people account for the location of these items. If the workplace or home is not tidy, individuals or offices will run at a loss, trying to replace missing things. Offices should provide their workers with cabinets, to properly organize the documents and stationaries. It is also important for homes to have different sections and cabinets for proper storage of household items. For example, the kitchen should have spices and food organizers. This will help to pinpoint the exact location of things in the kitchen and limit loss.
In conclusion, it is important to maintain a tidy home or workplace. This will help encourage safety and prevent items from going missing.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses the prompt clearly and maintains a consistent position throughout. The ideas are relevant, focusing on safety and efficiency. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat repetitive. For instance, the discussion on accidents in the second paragraph and the loss of items in the third paragraph could have been more nuanced. While the task is fully addressed, the supporting examples, such as the mention of 'spices and food organizers', are a bit simplistic. To reach a higher band, you should aim to explore the broader implications of an organized environment, such as the psychological benefits or the impact on productivity, rather than focusing primarily on physical accidents and missing objects.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each paragraph has a central theme. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'For example', and 'In conclusion' effectively to guide the reader. However, the transitions between sentences within paragraphs can feel a bit mechanical. The referencing is generally clear, though some sentences are quite short and choppy, which limits the flow. Improving the use of more sophisticated linking words and varying sentence length would enhance the overall cohesion and make the progression of ideas feel more natural and fluid.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task and allows for clear communication. You use some topic-specific terms like 'hazardous', 'insecticide', and 'fractures'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there is a tendency to repeat words like 'tidy', 'organized', and 'home/workplace'. To improve, try to incorporate more varied synonyms and collocations. For example, instead of repeating 'organized', you could use 'systematized', 'clutter-free', or 'meticulously arranged'. The word choice is generally accurate, but there are no examples of less common or idiomatic vocabulary that would demonstrate a higher level of lexical control.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the grammar is generally accurate, there are some minor errors, such as the unnecessary comma in 'Keeping the home and workplace tidy, encourages safety' and the pluralization of 'stationaries' (which is an uncountable noun). Most sentences are error-free, but the range of complex structures is somewhat limited. To achieve a higher score, try to incorporate a wider variety of subordinate clauses and more sophisticated punctuation, such as semicolons or dashes, to connect related ideas more effectively. The current level of control is sufficient for clear communication but lacks the flexibility expected at higher bands.
