Student answer (Band 7.0)
Some people believe that keeping homes and workplaces tidy and well organised is important. I strongly agree with this view because an orderly environment can improve productivity, reduce stress and make everyday tasks more efficient.
One major benefit of keeping things organised is that it saves time. When belongings and work materials are kept in their proper places, people can find what they need quickly instead of wasting time searching for them. This is particularly important in the workplace, where employees often have to deal with several tasks within limited time. For example, an employee who keeps important documents and equipment organised can complete daily responsibilities more efficiently and is less likely to misplace essential items.
Another important advantage is that a clean environment can contribute to people's mental well-being. A cluttered home or workplace can make people feel overwhelmed, distracted or uncomfortable, whereas an orderly space can create a sense of calm and control. This can also help people concentrate on important tasks. For instance, students who keep their study areas tidy may find it easier to focus on their assignments because there are fewer unnecessary distractions around them.
In conclusion, I believe that maintaining a tidy and organised home and workplace is highly beneficial. It can save time, improve concentration and reduce stress, allowing people to manage their responsibilities more effectively. Therefore, developing the habit of keeping things in their proper places is worthwhile for both personal and professional life.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt clearly and maintains a consistent position throughout. The ideas regarding productivity and mental well-being are relevant and well-supported with examples, such as the mention of employees and students. However, the response falls short of the 250-word minimum requirement, which is a significant constraint. Because the essay is under-length, it fails to fully develop the ideas to the extent expected for a higher band score. To improve, you should expand on your examples or add a brief counter-argument or further nuance to ensure the word count is comfortably met.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The essay is well-structured with a clear introduction, two distinct body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Ideas are logically sequenced, and there is a clear progression of thought. Cohesive devices such as 'One major benefit', 'Another important advantage', and 'In conclusion' are used effectively to guide the reader. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct points. The flow is natural and easy to follow, demonstrating a good grasp of organizational structure.
Lexical Resource — Band 7.0
The vocabulary used is appropriate and functional for the task. You demonstrate a good range of topic-specific language, such as 'mental well-being', 'overwhelmed', 'distracted', and 'efficiently'. While the vocabulary is accurate and conveys your meaning clearly, it lacks the 'less common' or 'sophisticated' lexical items that would push the score into the 8.0+ range. The word choices are safe and standard. To improve, try incorporating more precise collocations or nuanced synonyms to demonstrate a wider lexical range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.5
The grammar is generally accurate, and the majority of your sentences are error-free. You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures effectively, such as 'When belongings and work materials are kept in their proper places, people can find what they need quickly'. There are no significant grammatical errors that impede communication. The control over punctuation and sentence construction is solid. To reach a higher band, you could experiment with a wider variety of complex structures, such as inversion or more sophisticated conditional sentences.
