Student answer (Band 6.0)

Some people argue that cleanliness in the home is important while other believe that keeping everything organized at work and home is equally important. Although keeping the home nice and clean bring the positive energy, peace and relaxed feeling But I believe we need the same feeling of peace and relaxation when we work and it definitely come from a tidy environment.

A neat home has a positive aura. your child can play anywhere in the home and you can chill with your wife and spend time with your parents.

A clean floor is very necessary if you have pets as they spend more time on floor. Moreover Clean windows will make the home very attractive from outside.

having a indoor and outdoor plants can add the oxygen and green energy around you.

However, keeping the office well maintained is required for the employer, employees and all the visitors. Office furniture like chair and table need to be correctly contrast to look more professional appreance. Having small indoor plant bring a positive vibe in the office.

the lunch area need to be cleaned and all the floors need to be wide down at all times. Each business sector is different but tidiness require everywhere.

In my opinion, the choice depend on the particularly on individual priorities But I would favour both places need to be cleaned and well maintained on daily basis. Hygienic workplace is important for the success and productivity of the business. Whereas a tidy home is required for the safety of your kids and your personal health.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the importance of tidiness in both home and workplace environments. The position is clear throughout, and the student provides relevant reasons, such as safety for children at home and productivity in the office. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For example, the point about 'indoor and outdoor plants' is a bit tangential to the core theme of organization. To reach a higher band, the student should expand on the 'why' behind these opinions with more depth and specific examples, rather than listing features like 'clean windows' or 'office furniture'. The response is balanced, but the arguments lack the depth required for a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or missing. For instance, the transition between the introduction and the first body paragraph is abrupt. There are also issues with referencing and sentence-level flow; for example, the phrase 'But I believe' starts a sentence in a way that feels disjointed. While the overall progression is logical, the lack of sophisticated linking words and the occasional awkward transition limit the score. Paragraphing is present, but the internal cohesion within paragraphs could be improved by using a wider variety of cohesive markers.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety needed for a higher band. The student uses basic terms like 'nice', 'clean', and 'good', which are repetitive. There are also some collocation errors, such as 'wide down' (likely meant 'wiped down') and 'correctly contrast' (likely meant 'coordinated'). While the meaning is generally clear, the range is limited, and the student struggles to use less common lexical items accurately. To improve, the student should focus on learning topic-specific collocations related to organization and professional environments.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'keeping the home... bring the positive energy'), missing articles, and incorrect capitalization (e.g., 'your child', 'Clean windows'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several run-on sentences and incorrect use of capital letters mid-sentence. While the meaning is usually understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from being considered 'error-free' in the majority of sentences. More attention to basic proofreading and sentence structure is needed.
