Student answer (Band 6.0)

Some people think that it is an essential to keep your home and workplace tidy, with everything organized. I strongly agree with this statement. A clean and organized environment can improve productivity, reduce stress and save valuable time.

The main benefit is that keeping things organized helps people work efficiently. When everything is in correct place, it is much easier to find important documents, tools, or personal belongings. Whereas, at workplace employees can quickly find their files as well as equipment instead of wasting time searching for them. As a result, they can complete their tasks more effectively and meet deadlines.

A tidy environment can have a positive impact on our mental well-being. A messy home or workplace can make people feel stressed and overwhelmed. In contrast, a clean and organized space creates a sense of calm and comfort. After a busy day at work, coming home to a clean room can help person relax and enjoy their free time.

Furthermore, maintaining cleanliness also creates a good impression on others. A well-organized workplace shows that employees are responsible and professional. similarly, keeping a home clean can make guests feel comfortable and welcome. So, it enhances your personality front of your employers and guests.

In conclusion, I believe that keeping both our homes and workplaces tidy is very important. It not only saves time and increases productivity but also reduces stress and creates a positive environment.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. However, the essay is under the 250-word minimum requirement, which limits the depth of development. While the ideas regarding productivity, mental well-being, and professional impressions are relevant, they are somewhat brief. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your examples—for instance, by describing a specific scenario where an organized workspace directly led to a successful outcome. The under-length nature of the response means that the task is not fully developed, which impacts the overall score for this criterion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each focusing on a distinct point. You use cohesive devices such as 'The main benefit is', 'In contrast', and 'Furthermore' to guide the reader through your arguments. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the flow between sentences could be more sophisticated. The referencing is generally clear, though the connection between the workplace and home environment could be more seamlessly integrated. Overall, the structure is sound, but the limited length prevents a more complex and fluid progression of ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'mental well-being', 'overwhelmed', and 'professional'. However, the vocabulary is somewhat repetitive and lacks the precision or 'less common' items required for higher bands. There are minor errors in collocation, such as 'it is an essential' (should be 'essential') and 'in correct place' (should be 'in the correct place'). To improve, try to incorporate more varied synonyms and idiomatic expressions to convey your ideas with greater nuance and sophistication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are several grammatical slips, such as 'Whereas, at workplace' (missing article 'the') and 'help person relax' (missing article 'a'). Additionally, 'similarly' should be capitalized at the start of the sentence. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Increasing the variety of complex structures and ensuring consistent control over articles and prepositions will help improve your accuracy.
