Student answer (Band 6.0)

Keeping the accommodation and work area neat and clean and organizing everything in order is essential, as a few individuals have opined. My viewpoint on this notion is on the same wavelength because they will remain guarded against any illness, reduce workplace incidents, and everything can be found easily.

Living in a pristine home is good because when the living environment is free of dust, we can protect ourselves from illness. For example, a study published in Europe reported figures on clean homes, showing that individuals are less affected by allergies, which are usually caused by dusty accommodation.

Moving further, when everything is in order at the workplace, individuals can find their instruments easily. Additionally, this leads to fewer workplace incidents and increased productivity. For instance, I work as a CNC machinist in the manufacturing sector, where I usually organize my tools so that when I need them, I don't have to struggle.

To conclude, living in a clean environment, protecting oneself from allergies, and keeping everything in order can reduce workplace incidents. So, from my point of view, this is a good practice and should be part of every individual's daily life.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by providing a clear opinion and supporting it with relevant reasons. However, the essay is significantly under the 250-word minimum requirement, which severely limits the depth of the arguments. While the ideas are relevant, they are underdeveloped due to the brevity of the response. To reach a higher band, you must expand on your points with more detailed explanations and perhaps a second example or a counter-argument to ensure the response is fully developed and meets the length requirement.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. There is a basic introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'Moving further,' 'Additionally,' and 'For instance' are used to link ideas, though the transitions are somewhat mechanical. The progression of ideas is clear, but the overall structure feels truncated because the response is too short to allow for more sophisticated paragraph development or complex linking between ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary used is generally appropriate and clear, such as 'pristine home,' 'manufacturing sector,' and 'workplace incidents.' However, the range is somewhat limited and repetitive. There is little evidence of less common or idiomatic language. To improve, you should aim to incorporate more precise vocabulary related to the topic, such as 'clutter-free,' 'efficiency,' or 'psychological well-being,' rather than relying on simpler phrases like 'good practice' or 'clean environment.'

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. Most sentences are grammatically accurate, and errors do not impede communication. For example, the use of conditional structures ('when I need them, I don't have to struggle') is handled well. However, the range of structures is limited. To achieve a higher band, you should incorporate a wider variety of complex grammatical forms, such as passive voice or more varied subordinate clauses, while maintaining the current level of accuracy.
