Student answer (Band 6.0)

Some people think to keep home and office space neat and clean is very important while some think the other way. My opinion is that home and workplace should be neat and clean because it gives positive vibes and it keeps us disciplined.

Home is place where we spend most of our time. After office we come home and relax ,if our home is not clean for example the couch is full of mess , the sink is not clean , floors are dirty we will not feel fresh at all .If we don't clean our home there will be germs which may cause illness. At workplace specially our desk should be clean . While working we are sometimes in stress , so if our work desk is clean , keep some fresh flowers for freshness and we feel less stressful.

The other point is we will be disciplined in all our work . If we keep things in our home in well organized way, this will help us to be disciplined is many things . For example the spoons in tray are kept all together , in the time of rush it will be difficult to get which spoon we exactly need . So if the spoons are well arranged in different compartments, it will be easy to get the spoon which we want. Same goes for workplace. If we keep all files mixed together , during time of urgent meeting it will be difficult to get the file which we need .So the files should be kept well organized.

To conclude, my opinion is that people should keep things clean and well organized at home and office to remain disciplined and full of positive energy.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by clearly stating a position in favor of maintaining a tidy environment. The ideas are relevant, focusing on mental well-being, hygiene, and discipline. However, the development is somewhat basic. For instance, the example regarding spoons is a bit simplistic and repetitive when compared to the workplace example. To achieve a higher band, you should aim to expand on the psychological or professional benefits with more sophisticated reasoning rather than focusing on the mechanics of organizing kitchen utensils. The position is consistent throughout, but the depth of argument remains at a functional level.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the argument. There is a logical progression from the home environment to the workplace and then to the concept of discipline. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive (e.g., 'The other point is', 'For example', 'Same goes for'). Some transitions between sentences are abrupt, and the referencing could be smoother. While the overall structure is coherent, the lack of varied linking words and occasional awkward phrasing in transitions prevents it from reaching a higher band.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. You rely on basic descriptors like 'neat and clean' and 'well organized' multiple times. There are some minor collocation issues, such as 'give positive vibes' (informal) and 'in the time of rush' (unnatural). To improve, you should incorporate more academic or professional collocations related to productivity and environment. While the meaning is always clear, the range of vocabulary is limited, and there is little evidence of less common or idiomatic language usage.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent errors in punctuation and grammar. For example, there are missing articles ('at home and office', 'in time of urgent meeting'), comma splices, and inconsistent verb usage. Some sentences are slightly disjointed due to these errors. While the errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. You should focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring that articles are used correctly before nouns.
