Student answer (Band 7.5)
Many people believe that keeping their homes and workplaces clean and organized is important for maintaining a fresh and comfortable environment. They also think that every item should be kept in its proper place. I agree with this view because a clean and organized environment can reduce stress and improve productivity.
First of all, cleanliness can have a positive effect on people's mental health. When a place is clean and tidy, people usually feel more relaxed and comfortable. For example, after spending a busy day at work, a person may feel less stressed when they return to a clean and organized home. In contrast, a messy environment can make people feel uncomfortable and distracted. In the workplace, an organized desk or office can also create a more professional impression on colleagues and customers.
Secondly, keeping things in the right place can save time and increase productivity. People do not have to waste time searching for important items when everything is properly organized. For instance, workers can complete their tasks more quickly if their documents and equipment are arranged neatly. This is especially useful in busy workplaces where employees have many responsibilities.
In addition, a clean workplace can create a good impression on customers and visitors. An organized office can show that a company is professional and responsible. Therefore, both employees and employers can benefit from maintaining a tidy workplace.
In conclusion, I believe that keeping homes and workplaces clean and organized is a positive habit. It can provide peace of mind, save time, and help people become more productive in their daily lives.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 8.0
The response fully addresses the prompt by clearly stating a position in the introduction and maintaining it throughout the essay. Each paragraph introduces a relevant supporting point—mental health benefits, time efficiency, and professional image—which are then extended with logical explanations and examples. The ideas are well-developed and directly relevant to the task. The conclusion effectively summarizes the main arguments without introducing new information. The response is balanced and covers all parts of the task well, meeting the criteria for a high band score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 8.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear progression of ideas. Each paragraph has a central theme, and the transition between paragraphs is smooth, using appropriate linking words such as 'First of all', 'Secondly', 'In addition', and 'In conclusion'. Cohesive devices are used effectively and are not overly mechanical. The paragraphing is appropriate, with each section serving a distinct purpose in the overall structure. The flow of information is natural and easy to follow throughout the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 7.0
The vocabulary is sufficient and appropriate for the task. The student uses a range of topic-specific terms such as 'professional impression', 'responsibilities', and 'peace of mind'. While the vocabulary is accurate and conveys meaning clearly, it lacks a high degree of sophistication or the use of less common idiomatic expressions that would characterize a band 8 or 9. However, there are no errors in word choice or collocation that impede communication, and the language used is natural and precise enough for the context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.5
The essay demonstrates a good control of grammar and punctuation. There is a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as the use of conditional-like structures ('When a place is clean...') and relative clauses. The majority of sentences are error-free, and the few minor slips do not interfere with the clarity of the message. Punctuation is used correctly throughout. To reach a higher band, the student could incorporate a wider variety of more complex grammatical structures, such as passive voice or inversion, to demonstrate greater flexibility.
