Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by expressing an opinion on the importance of tidiness. However, the essay is significantly under the 250-word minimum requirement (219 words), which limits the depth of development. While the position is clear, the ideas—such as the impact on clients or the desire for photographs—are somewhat superficial and lack the necessary elaboration to fully explore the topic. To improve, you should expand on your arguments with more detailed examples and ensure you meet the minimum word count to allow for a more comprehensive discussion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive (e.g., 'Firstly', 'Moreover', 'In conclusion'). There are instances where the logical flow is hindered by awkward phrasing, such as the transition between the workplace example and the home environment. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each sentence connects smoothly to the next, rather than relying on simple list-like transitions.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on basic terms like 'neat and clean' and 'good manner'. There are also some awkward collocations and word choices, such as 'looks affectively' (likely meaning 'effectively' or 'attractive') and 'pass you a good comments'. To improve, try to incorporate more precise, topic-specific vocabulary related to professional environments and personal organisation, and pay closer attention to word forms and collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('If people wants', 'your neighbourhood starts follow you') and incorrect sentence construction ('everything organise in proper way it looks different'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and sentence structure. Increasing the variety of complex structures while ensuring they are error-free will significantly improve your score.
